Weezer bassist Scott Shrinerunmarried wife, Jillian Laurenrevealed that his “world fell to pieces” after being shot by police in Los Angeles in April.
“It’s like, you spend your whole life just getting a deck of cards in a row. Then you pick them up and throw them in the air one day, and I’m still waiting to see how they’re going to land,” Lauren, 52, said. Rolling Stone in an interview published on Saturday, December 20.
Lauren was arrested for attempted murder in Los Angeles in April after a standoff with police. LAPD officers were in the area investigating the suspect who assaulted the previous day.
According to police, officers saw Lauren allegedly “armed with a gun” outside a “neighboring residence,” which led to an argument in the backyard.
“The police ordered it [Lauren] throwing the gun out of hand multiple times. However, he refused,” the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement at the time.[Lauren] then he pointed the gun at the police and there was a shootout involving the officer.”
Lauren allegedly ran into the house after being shot in the arm, the police later found a 9 mm gun in the area. The author was arrested for attempted murder and was released on a $1 million bond.

“It gave me a chance to get out of my head during those hours in the cell and think about who else was there,” he recalled. “In a difficult situation, I said that I will never write a book about this because I will never face this again.
Prosecutors eventually decided to charge Lauren with reckless discharge of a firearm and assault with an automatic weapon.
Lauren pleaded not guilty but later agreed to a two-year mental health program. At that time, his lawyer Hilary Potashner publicly thanked the district attorney for “carefully reviewing this matter” and reaching a “fair” settlement.

Lauren agreed Rolling Stone that the media coverage of her divorce was actually more traumatic than the “headlines” about her arrest.
“The headlines about divorce are the ones that hurt me the most,” he said. “I was the one working for my husband, but seeing it in public was really painful. [spent] under the covers, blocking out all noise. Divorce hurts, I don’t care who you are.”
As for where the estranged couple stands now, Lauren explained to the publication that Shriner is “still there [her] best friend” but they “broke up” as a couple.
“We still have great kids together and have been really supportive of each other through our different transitions,” she added.

Shriner and Lauren married in November 2005 and later welcomed Tariku in 2007 and Jovanni in 2009.
