Val Kilmerdaughter of, Mercedesshared a heartfelt tribute to the late actor a few months after his death.
“My dad would have been 66 years old today, born on the last day of fifty years ❤️,” she wrote on Instagram on Wednesday, December 31, sharing a slideshow of family photos. “I am very grateful to all my friends for reaching me in 2025.”
The post included several photos of Kilmer throughout the years, from childhood to his Hollywood career. One photo featured Kilmer with Mercedes, now 34, and her brother, Jacknow 30.
Kilmer shared his two children with his ex-wife Joanne WhalleyHe was married to her from 1988 to 1996. Mercedes’ post included a photo of her parents when they met on the set of the 1988 film. Willow.

“My father is very talented, and he knows how to creatively transcend the limitations of his speech,” continued Mercedes. “I learned a lot from watching him, like how he communicated physically. It expanded what I thought acting was.”

“I’m just crazy, I’m excited for them,” he told the outlet. “My only regret is that I never see enough of them, so I don’t get enough of the wild fun that everyone else gets, but they’re really fun.”
Kilmer himself has brought a lot of entertainment to fans over the years, thanks to his prominent roles Top Gun, Batman Forever, Heat and more. In 2022, he returned to Top shot universe like Iceman in Top shot: Maverick.
“It means a lot to my father as he is proud of that film. This is what he likes to do,” Mercedes told the newspaper.
