The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on Friday that it has suspended all asylum decisions after the shooting in Washington, DC, where an Afghan National is accused of shooting two members of the country, including one who died from his injuries.
USCIS Director Joseph B. Edlow said asylum decisions will be suspended “until we can ensure that every alien is exposed and vetted to the highest standard.”
“The safety of the American people always comes first,” he wrote in X.
The joke comes amid a broad crackdown on immigration signed by President Donald Trump, who has vowed to stop immigration from “third world countries” and the acceptance of Reverse Biden-Erassetions.

Edlow said Thursday that officials will be reissuing green cards issued to immigrants in all “countries of concern,” including Afghanistan. USCIS has also implemented new national security measures that must be observed when immigrants from “high-risk” countries.
“I directed a full-scale, re-examination of every green card for every alien in every country of concern,” he wrote.

The Department of Homeland Security also said it had suspended all immigration applications from Afghanistan and was in the process of reviewing all existing cases approved under the bidan administration.
In addition, the State Department has revoked all visas for people traveling on Afghan passports in response to attacks on members of the national guard.
“The Ministry of Government has already suspended the issuance of visas to people traveling with Afghan passports,” the agency said. “The Department is taking all necessary measures to protect national security and public safety.”
National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom, who died after being shot Wednesday in the nation’s capital, while the second service member injured in the attack, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is in critical condition.
The suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, faces multiple charges, including one count of first degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed. Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Department of Justice will pursue the death penalty for the suspect.
