Ukraine Peace Deal Momerem appears to be growing as Russian strikes continue – nationally

The renewed US PUSP to end the war between Russia and Ukraine is gathering momentum, although some key issues remain unresolved, officials said on Tuesday.

The update was issued hours after Russia launched a wave of overnight attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, killing at least seven people in strikes that hit the city’s buildings and energy infrastructure. An attack on Ukraine in southern Russia killed three people and damaged homes, authorities said.

“In the past week, the United States has made significant progress in combating the conflict by bringing Ukraine and Russia to the table,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavett said in a post on X.

“There are weak, but not insurmountable, details that need to be sorted out and will require further talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.”

President Donald Trump’s plan to end the four-year war came out last week. It gave Russia a boost, prompting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to quickly engage in US negotiations. European leaders, fearing for their future amid Russia’s fury but apparently isolated by Trump from withdrawing proposals, are tearing up the direction of negotiations by accepting their concerns.

Senior officials and Ukrainian officials said progress was being made in talks in Geneva on Sunday to end the war.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday that peace efforts were gathering momentum and “clearly at a critical point.”

“The talks are getting a new momentum. And we have to hold this momentum,” he said at this moment, “said during the meeting of the video conference of countries, led by France and the UK, which can help the police or any trader with Russia.

British Prime Minister Keirir Starmer said in a speech: “I think we are going straight and in the guidelines today that for the most part the text, (Zelenskyy) shows, can be accepted.”

US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll met with Russian officials for several hours in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday, a US official told scheduled media.

Driscoll, who became part of the U.S. negotiating team on the American exit less than two weeks ago, is heading for the latest round of talks involving the terms of a possible peace settlement with Russia.

The American official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive negotiations, refused to give details when the talks will continue or what topics he knows, but they indicate that the topics have realized that they will be able to stop the war as soon as possible.

Oleksandr Bevz, one of the Ukrainian delegates to the Geneva talks, said that the number of points in the proposed zone has been reduced, but he denied reports that the 28-seventh peace plan was now 28 points now has 19 points now has 19 points.

European leaders have warned that the road to peace will be long.

Russia fired 22 missiles of various types and more than 460 drones into Ukraine overnight, Zelenskyy wrote by telegraph. The strikes knocked out water, electricity and heat in parts of Kyiv. Images showed a huge fire spreading through a nine-story residential building in Kyiprovskkkyi, Dniprovskkkyi region.

Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said 20 people were injured in Kyiv. The Russian Defense Ministry said it targeted military-industrial facilities and energy facilities. The strikes were a response to Ukraine’s attacks on public goods in Russia, the ministry said.

Liubov Petrivna, a roommate of the injured victim in the injured District of DniProvskyi district, told AP that everything “in his apartment and” glass rained down “on him.
