Two new suspects in the Louvre Jewels Heist have been given their first charges – nationally

The prosecutor of Paris said on Saturday that the first charges were given for their involvement in the involvement of the Louvre museum in the museum, three days after they were arrested by the police as part of an ongoing investigation.

Laure Beccua, the prosecutor, said that the 37-year-old suspect is charged with theft by an organized group and criminal conspiracy. He was known to previous attendance managers, the statement said.

Another suspect, a 38-year-old woman, was accused of being an accomplice. Both are locked up.

Both denied involvement, the prosecutor said.

The woman’s lawyer, Adrien Sorrentino, told reporters his client is ‘broken’ because he is contesting the allegations.

“He does not understand how he is motivated by any of the elements he is accused of,” she said.

Five people were arrested by police on Wednesday in connection with the case, including one tied to the heist through DNA. That person is accused of being part of a group of four who used a forklift to enter the Louvre. The prosecutor did not explain that the person is among those facing Saturday.

The three were released without charge, BecCUau said.

In a separate story, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said six people were arrested on Thursday after robbing a refined laboratory in the city of Lyon during which the thieves used explosives. Loot, which was estimated to be worth 12 million euros ($13.9 million), Nuñez told X.
