Trump’s meeting with Putin in Hungary screamed

Donald Trump has no plans to meet with Vladimir Putin in Hungary, the White House confirmed.

The US President will not meet with the Russian leader in the “Future” after the phone call between the talks between the countries that came from both countries to prepare for peace talks turned sour.

On Thursday, Mr Trump said he would meet with Putin in Budin, Budapest, once high-level advisers on both sides of the conflict.

Sources told the Telegraph that Moscow has canceled plans to hold a preparatory meeting.

Mr Trump has made it possible for officials from each side to call on Hungary to prepare for the summit.

Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, and Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, spoke by phone on Monday. According to reports, the call did not go well.

Mr Lavrov is believed to have told Mr Rubio that Russia would not accept a pre-emptive crackdown on Ukraine over the phone.

However, on Tuesday the White House described the call as “productive”, adding: “Therefore, an additional meeting between the Secretary and Foreign Minister was necessary, and there are no plans to meet with President Putin in the future.”

Mr Lavrov refused to compromise his Moscow position in talks with Mr Rubio.

“I want to officially confirm: Russia has not changed its position compared to the understanding reached during the Alaska summit,” Mr. Lavrov told reporters in Moscow after his American reports.

Ukrainian and European sources were filled with Russia’s refusal to negotiate during the Vollodymyr scare.

The United Nations, a group of European countries involved, issued a statement accusing Putin of “aggressive tactics” in his talks with Mr. Trump.

“We all see that Putin continues to choose violence and destruction,” the statement said.

Since meeting with the US President in Alaska, Putin has asked that Ukraine withdraw from its Eastern Donbas regions, Donetsk and Luhansk, as a guarantee of peace.

Mr Trump reportedly pressed Mr Zelensky to accept the offer in a meeting held at the White House on Friday.

However, the donation of Donetsk, which Moscow has failed to receive in full since 2014, remains a red thread for the President of Ukraine, who has said that he will negotiate on the basis of the current lines.

Speaking to reporters, Mr Trump appeared to move past the Ukraine position, insisting he wanted to see the war “stop on the lines where they are, the lines of battle”.

On Tuesday, the Kremlin revealed that no clear date has been set for the meeting.

“Listen, we have the understanding of those Presidents, but we cannot postpone what has not been completed,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

“Neither President Trump nor President Putin gave specific dates.”
