Trump vows ‘extreme retaliation’ after deadly military ambush in Syria

Three US military personnel – two army soldiers and a military translator – were killed on Saturday after an attacker targeted a meeting of US and Syrian forces before being shot, the US military said.

This attack came shortly after Syria announced that it had signed a political cooperation agreement and the meeting of the USED against the President of Syria, which was accompanied by the White House.

The attacker was a member of the Syrian Security Force, three local officials told Reuters. Syrian Interisity spokesman Servin Serverson told state-run television that the man had no leadership role in the security forces.

A senior U.S. official said the initial assessment indicated that ISIS forces may have carried out the attack, noting that it took place in an area not controlled by the Syrian government.
