President Donald Trump on Friday said he plans to file a lawsuit against the BBC over the Jan. 6, the news organization reported.
“We’re going to hit anywhere between a billion and $5 billion probably sometime next week,” he told reporters at the Air Force Base on Friday evening.
He also added that he plans to talk to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the weekend, the BBC reported.
“BBC lawyers have written to President Trump’s Legal Team in response to a letter received on Sunday,” a BBC spokesperson said on Thursday. “BBC chair Samir Shah has separately sent a letter to White making it clear to President Trump that he and the organization regret the arrangement of the President’s speech on January 6, 2021, which was featured on the show.”

A spokesman for the department said there were “no plans” to re-release the documents at the center of the controversy on any BBC platforms.
“While the BBC sincerely regrets the way the video clip was edited, we strongly disagree that there is a basis for the claim of contamination,” said a spokesperson for the agency.
Britain’s News Agency has come under fire for a BBC Panorama report on Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech. Critics believe the document was misleading because it left out Trump urging supporters to protest “peacefully,” and together they said the President did for about an hour.
The BBC said on Friday that the editing gave “the false impression that President Trump had made a direct call for violent action” but it was not intended.

Trump threatened to sue if the “false, libelous, defamatory, and inflammatory statements” were not immediately removed.
The controversy led to the resignation of BBC News CEO Deborah Turness and BBC Director-General Tim Davie.
“I came down at the weekend because the buck stops with me. But I want to make one thing clear, BBC News is not racist,” Ntambano told reporters outside BBC headquarters in London.
