Trump Doubles Down on Colombia Crackdown, Threatens to Cut All Funds

President Donald Trump on Sunday doubled down on his criticism of Colombia, calling its outgoing President, Gustavo Petro, as he repeated “the President” as he repeated “his promise to cut all money from its production of cocaine over the production of tacaine.

Trump’s angry comments came while speaking to angry Air Force reporters. The President said he was blocking all payments to Colombia because the country was still producing drugs rather than fighting for them.

“They make drugs, they analyze drugs, they make cocaine, they have cocaine factories,” Trump said. “They have no fight against drugs, and I block all payments to Colombia because they have nothing to do with their fight against drugs.”

The President’s Rhetoric mixed with severity, with more attacks on Petro, who had been accused of being the ‘leader of illegal drugs’ and “encouraging the mass production of narcotics” throughout the country.

Trump said he would announce new tariffs on Monday, confirming the X Post from Sen. Lindoey Graham, “not in the spotlight, in the bag. He’s going to look bad, in the bag.”

In a social reality on Sunday, Trump warned that Petro “the best” drug operations “or the United States will lock them up, and it will not be done well.”

Trump said Petro had ‘a new mouth in America.’ He lamented that drug trafficking continues “despite huge payments and subsidies from the USA which is nothing more than the other side of a long RIP in America.”

“From today, these payments, or any other type of payment, or subsidy, can no longer be made in Colombia,” he added.

The warm words come amid growing tensions between Washington and one of its closest Latin American allies.

Petro fired back at X, saying that Trump’s charges distorted Colombia’s record.

Petro wrote: “Trying to promote peace in Colombia is not a drug trafficker,” Petrow said. He suggested that Trump was being manipulated by his advisers, described himself as the “great enemy” of drugs in his country and said that Trump had “no experience in Colombia.”

Trump is opening up US military power to the coalition. Is a wider war coming?

Colombia’s foreign ministry accused Trump of violating the country’s sovereignty, calling his words “illegal intervention.” Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez added that the armed forces said “Women are also losing men and women fighting drug trafficking.”

Trump’s recent anti-Petro campaign raises the possibility of conflict in Latin America, where the US has already increased pressure on Venezuela and Venezuela’s neighbor, Nicolás Maduro.

US forces have stepped up counter-countermeasures operations across the Caribbean, deploying ships and surveillance aircraft as part of a wider crackdown on smuggling networks. Trump also authorized covert operations inside Venezuela.

Unlike Venezuela, Colombia remains Washington’s Top Regional Aid Suic, although the amount fell to about $ 230 million this year – below the previous peaks of Topping $ 700. Further reductions could affect military cooperation and monitor efforts to fight insurgent groups.

But the cultivation of COCA reached its peak last year, according to the United Nations, and there has been renewed violence in rural areas where the government spent years fighting incidents before the trial came a decade ago.

In September, the Trump Administration accused Colombia of failing to cooperate in the war on drugs, although at the time in Washington it issued cuts to organizations that would cause aid cuts.

Petrou, Colombia’s first remaining President, has repeatedly done away with Trump this year. Petrome initially refused US military flights to deport migrants, leading Trump to threaten tariffs. The State Department said it will return Petro’s visa when he attends the UN General Assembly in New York because he told the American military not to obey Trump’s orders.

Petro and Trump have also been at odds over US strikes on boats in the Caribbean. The President of Colombia has blamed aid for the injuries of people attacked by landmines in marriages that killed a Colombian fisherman who was said to have no ties to drug trafficking.

There have been seven US strikes in the region since the beginning of September that the administration said were targeted by suspected drug dealers. At least 32 people were killed.
