Oakland – President Trump said on Thursday that he pulled out a “planned operation” in San Francisco after speaking with the mayor of Daniel and activists in the East Bay, as the abandonment of their communities could be ridiculed.
Trump’s announcement came as protests erupted at the entrance to the US Coast Guard Base across the Bay in Alameda County, where the Department of Homeland Security has begun deploying additional forces. It was followed by a similar announcement by Lurie, who said he told Trump during a phone call late in San Francisco “that” Military Coercion and Military Commentary on our Homeland will hinder our recovery. “
Lurie said that Trump agreed to send any federal transportation to the city, and Harkuland Security Secretary Kristi Noem – who is in charge of the federal immigration forces – in an interview with him on Thursday morning.
Trump said on social media that he had been planning the “judgment” in San Francisco since Saturday, “and that some” asked him to choose it because they believed that Lurie “believed that he had improved” with great progress. ‘
Trump said he told Lurie he was “making a mistake, because we can make it more difficult, and we’re removing the support of prominent business leaders Jensen Huang of Nvidia and Marc Benioff of Salesforce.”
During Thursday morning’s “conference after an hour of Trump, the Mayor of Oakland Barbara Lee and other leaders of the East said that they had a high attack on the ceremonies given by the forces of Alamera and Oakland.
“The Federal administration, of course, has increased its creative and enforcement presence in the Bay Area. We know that Border Patrol agents have been stationed on Coast Guard Island,” Lee said. “But … We are fully prepared. We are looking at developments closely and will keep our citizens informed if any changes are confirmed.”
The Department of Homeland Security defended the deployment of its agents to the region, saying they would focus on the worst criminal aliens – including murderers, rapists, gang members, and terrorists. “
Alameda County Dist. Atty. Ursula Jones Dickson said the East Bay immigration crackdown was part of the Trump Administration’s “Write
“We know they’re baiting Oakland, and that’s why San Francisco, all of a sudden, is off the table,” Jones Dickson said. “So I’m not going to be quiet about what we know is coming. We know that their expectation is that Oakland is going to do something to make an example of us.”
Lourdes Martinez, the director of discrimination rights at the Centro Legald de La Raza, said that the communities are afraid of the soundness of the latest legal offers that the latest government sectors, the languages they speak and the fields of work they work in – and the organizers expect a lot of what is said given the latest deployment.
He called on migrants and others to protect themselves by reading the documents and making sure they and their families know their rights to remain silent and to have a lawyer – and how to communicate with legal issues if you have problems. He also urged members of the public to report any arrests, “to make sure no one disappears.”
“We know this is an uncertain and stressful time. However, this is a moment of unity and strength, not panic,” she said.
Shortly after Lee’s event, about 40 protesters gathered near the bridge leading to the coastal conservation island.
The music was blasting. One person wore a flaming animal costume, a trend that gained momentum recently amid similar protests in Portland, Ore.
“We knew there would be [an immigration enforcement] Being here and we wanted to disrupt it in a peaceful way – to make it difficult for them to get people out,” said Lindsey Swanson, 32, a financial planner who lives in Oakland.
Swanson and others said they believed that sanctions would have increased in San Francisco, despite Trump and Lurie’s early confirmation, and would continue in the East Bay.
“There’s the East Bay – Oakland, Berkeley – So calling out San Francisco doesn’t mean anything,” said Rachel Kim, a 28-year-old resident who is training to become a counselor.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavett said Thursday that Trump’s conversation with Lurie was an example of how he is willing to work with Democrats and other states to “clean up America’s cities.”
“He has a sincere interest in this effort to make our streets safe, make our cities safe and clean again,” he said.
The morning’s events followed the days of rising tensions in the Bay Area, after he raised the troops in San Francisco – although he called them “homeless camps and attracted good feelings.
On Wednesday, Gov. Gavin Newlom confirmed the number of immigration agents in the area, and suggested that it was the beginning of a broader operation by Trump and his administration of evangelism.
“He sends the men who are assigned, he sends the border, he sends Ice, he creates anxiety and fear in the community so that he can solve that security,” said NewsOm. “This is no different than an Arsonist spewing fire.”
The response revealed those leaders and activists in other cities where migration forces and migration troops are deployed, including Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Chicago and Portland. It added to the already heated discussion surrounding Trump’s massive deportation move
Central to that debate has been the repeated and unprecedented decision to send troops into American cities without the apparent support of the state or local leaders. Federal judges are divided on that issue, although it has so far been allowed to proceed in Los Angeles by the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
But even in the app’s court, there were disagreements.
The independent justices of the Court recently made a decision allowing the deployment to continue in Los Angeles, made by a three-judge panel, to eliminate a larger, 11-member panel. When that request was denied, Wednesday’s counter-argument – highlighted the deployment as a clear violation of the Constitution and the separation of powers.
Judge Marka Berzon, in the unit composed of judges of the 9 9 district, wrote that the small panel in its review of its employment, informs the President, now and in the future, of its interruptions of meetings that work in the law enforcement sector. “
