Three Mile Island is getting a jolt back to life, courtesy of a $1 billion Trump Administration loan to restart its nuclear response.

The Department of Energy announced Tuesday a $1 billion loan to Baltimore’s energy startups to rehabilitate the central grid with non-renewable home energy.

The site of three Mile Island in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania was illuminated in 1979 when there was a malfunction of the loss of efficiency from Iodine, but one of the responses continued to work for several years.

“One of the biggest challenges that Americans have faced in the last several years has been the rising price of electricity… and when we come to; the Trump administration;

“We want to bring a lot more inverse, reliable electricity to the grid to stop these structures going up in electricity and increase the power of AI,” Wright said.

While Reactor Unit Two has been offline since its early morning malfunction, Reactor Unit One was kept in operation until the 2010s, when its owners shut it down, citing primarily economic reasons.

Constellation Energy previously announced that it hoped to use the site in the future for AI data centers after seeking an agreement with Microsoft.

In July, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission held a public meeting in Penn State-Harrisburg to discuss the new facility, now called the Crane Clean Energy Center.

The Director of the Office of the Department of Finance Greg Beard Greg Beard told reporters on Tuesday that the loan of $ 1 billion has been extended in the history of the restart that was three miles.

Beard said the site’s 800mW capacity is critical to supporting the Regional Power Grid Pjm with “stable, low-cost energy.”

Beard said the project could come to fruition as early as 2027.

Wright said some of the biggest challenges for American energy are affordability and rising operating costs over the past several years.

When Trump took office, he said, he reversed the ongoing efforts to close so much as 100gw of cheap and reliable energy with coal and gas, while adding that several nuclear power plants were closed during the biden era. The secretary called the Three Mile Island Project “What America Really Needs” and evidence of the Trump administration taking a closer look at the All-the-Above approach to American Energy Postinance.

Beard added that there is an “active pipeline” of applications to his office to support nuclear, coal, and coal projects, and that his office is looking to retrofit renewable energy projects.

Pennsylvania gov. Josh Shapiro previously called the nuclear industry a key player in green energy.

“[It provides] Carbon-free electricity that helps reduce emissions and grow Pennsylvania’s economy,” he said.
