The Star Trek Showrunners finally just admitted that the Trek Show was a failure

By Chris SnellGrove | Being published

With the premiere just over two months away, Star Trek fans can’t help but wonder what’s next. Starfleet Academy what will the show be like. We know surprisingly few details, but co-showrunner Noga Landau recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly Sunday that it will have the kind of “weekly format” that helped make shows like The original series and The next generation a big hit.

That might seem like a no-brainer for a Star Trek show, but its announcement is very welcome and serves as a tacit acceptance that Getting it (The show itself Starfleet Academy pulwar off) was a failure.

The problem with Star Trek: Discovery

Unlike Star Trek Trek Trek, which had 26 episodes per season, Getting it It started with a 15-episode 1 season and ended with a 10-episode season. Rather than offering each piece to new meetings, Getting it The focus is on big, long mysteries for its characters to explore and solve, but this approach has continued to appeal to fans for many reasons. The chief of them was the fact that even when the mystery was cool (why does the warp drive not happen automatically?), the answer (in this case, the alien, the alien, the alien, was often disappointed in the influence).

Later Getting itPicard followed the same formula, leading to its greatest failure. Sure, everyone wanted to see the TNG team back together in season 3, but the stupidity of the season mystery (what is the daughter of the season data (why q back bullsh*t?). Bad fan acceptance of these long-running mystery season quests was a big reason why Star Trek: The New World changed back The original series‘Mission-of-the-week formula.

Star Trek returns to a winning formula

Now, Co-Showrunner Noga Landau has confirmed that Starfleet Academy and will have a mission-of-the-week format, a highly creative pect that the star of Star Trek Storytelling pioneered Getting it failure. It’s amazing how familiar the franchise is actually the old familiar… you know, spending each episode looking for a new life and a new civilization. Fans have responded in this way A new unknown world Ideally that leaves only one question: Why did Paramoud change the old formula in the first place?

The answer is as simple as it is exclamatory. As Star Trek made the transition to broadcasting, creative energy was sought to give the franchise the kind of respected storytelling typically found only on award-winning cable shows. Violation is bad or even Game of Thrones. It was a bold gamble that may have worked in the universe, but for our size, fans expected that the new Star Trek shows that … well … Star Trek shows!

If the warp drive doesn’t break, don’t fix it

Obviously, the traditional Trek Storytelling formula isn’t perfect, and we’ve gotten some great stinker episodes over the years (looking at you, “Code of Honor”). However, in every form of television script has kept the franchise alive for more than half a century. It was a big risk to change things with Getting itand after that much controversy of the show and the quick cancellation, it is clear that it is due to gambling wrongly with the new format.

Fortunately, Starfleet Academy to draw long arcs of time done Getting it annoying at times. It’s the simple fact that the show embraces the formula that makes the series likable The next generation The hit would be good news for fans like me who have been on the phone about it Starfleet Academy. Now, let’s keep our fingers crossed for what paramoud can do with the new show he had and the latest issue he’s dealing with A new unknown world: Making this a weekly trip is fun to watch!
