Ukraine says it used Grones missiles to hit two oil tankers that are part of a Russian shadow fleet and were a few kilometers off the coast of Turkey.

The Gambian-flagged ships Kailos and Virat strengthened their explosives on Friday evening after the crews told Turkish officials that the boats had been hit.

Kairos, addressed to a Russian port Novorossiysk, was partially engulfed in flames, and all 25 crew members were evacuated to safety. Crews on board the Virat reported two hits and sustained what appeared to be minor damage. There was no container and it was carrying the shipment of the victim at that time.

In an interview with Turkish Broadcaster NTV, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, said that the events took place within the special economic zone.

He said the administration is in contact with its partners to prevent recurrence and ensure the safety of the ships. He did not provide further details.

Ukraine wants responsibility

In a statement, an official with the security service of Ukraine (SBU) said that the attack on two ships was carried out by the SBU and the Ukrainian Navy using “marine” drones, armed for long distances and equipped with hardened warheads.

It released a video that purported to show the strikes on the ships, using images captured from body cameras.

Both ships were acquired by the UK and the European Union. The virus, which was developed in 2018, was also approved by Canada.

Despite the many rounds of birds made by the Western government against the shadows of Russia, the ships continue to move the Russian economy, which awakens Moscow’s economy and its ability to finance the almost four-year war in Ukraine.

“Russian shadow ships have become a tumor in global shipping,” said Elisabeth Braw, a The top disease with the Atlantic Council’s safety programs.

“Shadow ships have grown a lot, and Western governments have tried to take out some ships… But every time it happens, another vessel enters the shadow of the ships.”

Burning shadows of ships

Braw said that the ships, which tend to increase and hide their movements, often change their names and the countries in which they are registered. Usually they will carry “light flags,” he said.

“Countries with little or no experience in maritime matters, countries like the Gambia, the Cook Islands, have started flagging the shadow ships.”

When convicted, ships can be given Western and Indemnity insurance and are not allowed to call at certain ports.

Tensions are high in the Black Sea because Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 22, 2024. Merchant ships have Serious Injury in the attack on the ports of Ukraine and after the indirect farm Underwater mines.

In recent months, Kyiv has increased its strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, including the Port of Novorossiysk, which was attacked overnight.

On Saturday, Ukraine said and returned Russia The Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region, while the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) said one of its Soring points in Novorossiysk was seriously damaged.

CPC is an energy transport network that stretches from western Kazakhstan to central Russia via the Black Sea.

The attack on Ukraine came at the same time that Moscow launched three missiles and hundreds of drones across Ukraine, killing at least three in Kyiv.
