Ramesh has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, haunted by the horrors of the day, and is still suffering physically, too.

“It’s very painful for me to explain what happened, even now. I can’t say that now,” he told the BBC. “Now I’m alone. I just stay in my room alone, I don’t talk to my wife, my son. I like to be alone in my house.”

CBS News was at the crash site in the days following India’s worst air disaster, and we pressed Air India officials to confront the grieving families.

“The investigation will take time, but whatever we can do now, we’re doing,” said CEO Campbell Wilson after the accident. “We understand that people are eager to get information … in the meantime, our teams are working overnight with families to support the passengers, their team – and the investigators – however.”

Ramesh’s legal team says Air India has not provided adequate support or compensation, however. The Airline is making a temporary offer of less than $30,000.

Air India told CBS news in a statement that “support during what should have been an unparalleled period” because Ramesh remains “very important.

The airline said it had asked to meet with him and “will continue to reach out, and we very much hope to receive a positive response.”

The cause of the fatal crash has not been confirmed, but the first report released in July by India on the crash accident said that the propeller engines on both Boeing 787 engines had been replaced, not long ago, within one second. resulting in both engines losing thrust.
