The Patriots extended their winning streak to eight games as Drake Maye led the way for the Jets

The New England Patriots continue to roll, handling the AFC East River New York Jets, 27-14, on “Thursday Night Football.”

New England extended its longest hitting streak to eight games, improving to 9-2 on the season. Meanwhile, the Jets’ win streak, after starting the season 0-7, has come to a close.

Going into this game, the patriots are expected to dominate the jerseys. While the scoreboard didn’t always tell in the end, their rookie run certainly provided fireworks.

Treveyon Henderson, who had a breakout game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week with 147 rushing yards and a few more touchdowns, added a touch more to his stat year.

He was the only Patriots player to find the end zone, starting with the team’s 13-play, 69-yard drive that ended with his offensive line pushing him over the goal line to tie the game.

In the Patriots’ next game, Henderson rushed from seven yards to give the Patriots a 14-7 lead to end the first half.

New England starting quarterback Drake Maye, a potential MVP prospect, put together a forced chunk to set up an automatic touchdown pass to Henderson, who found himself open in the end zone.

Henderson finished the game with 62 rushing yards per carry, while hauling in five catches for 31 yards.

Meanwhile, Justin Fields and the Jets offense fought back despite a huge opening 14-drive that ended with the quarterback.

Fields was coming off a tough game against the cleveland browns, although the jets were able to allow thanks to two special teams teams. He threw for only 54 yards with a quarterback average of 60.4.

Fields was 15-of-26 for 116 yards in the game with a touchdown pass on a broken feed to John Metchie III that made it 21-14 in the third quarter. But there have been more bad moments than good for the Jets, including a fumble that was lost in the fourth quarter when the Jets were just down.

The Patriots were able to use the Count-Quarter Clock, and give the home crowd what they were hoping for in Mike Vrabel’s first year as head coach – a winning season.

There is a lot of work to do, but a good nine wins puts the spots above .500.

For the Jets, Metchie was the leading receiver with 45 yards on three catches, while Brece Call had 58 yards rushing on 14 carries. Fields had 67 yards on 11 runs.
