The NFL is asking teams to observe a moment of silence for Marshawn kneeling

The NFL is asking teams to observe a moment of silence before their games on Sunday, November 9, in honor of the late Dallas Cowboys Marshawn Kneeland.

The league is sending a memo to all 32 teams on Friday, November 8, according to EspN.

A moment of silence will be followed by thousands of community announcers reading the message, saying, “If you or someone you know is struggling or needs emotional support, please call or text 988.”

Kneeland died by suicide on Thursday, November 6, following a police chase earlier in the night. He was 24 years old. According to a release from FRISCO police officers, the police lost Kneeland’s car and later found out that it collided with the Dallas Parkway. Police say they are using K-9 units and a drone to try to locate Kneeland.

During the search, they were told he had expressed “suicidal ideation,” according to the release.

“It is with great sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share the sad news of Marshawn taking a knee today,” the Cowboys said in a statement on Thursday. “Marshawn was a dear friend and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the passing of the Cowboys’ Marshawn kneeling,” the NFL said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina, family, friends and teammates. We have been in contact with the Cowboys and have provided resources.”

In the days since Kweland’s tragic death, there has been an outpouring of support from players around the NFL, including former Dak prescott and Micah Parsons.
