Bode took a shot of the painkiller and within 10 seconds was throwing it back. The final scene was Bode agreeing with his decision even though it was not clear if this was his rock bottom or not.
“Bode is a recovering addict. That’s something he struggles with and we’ve seen him successfully put that behind a lot of our show,” ShowRunner Tia Napolitano only describe it US of the Week. “With Vince and Gabriela leaving, it felt like a real challenge for someone to deal with addiction issues. We wanted to honor the authenticity and look to really do it and be on that rollercoaster with him.”
Napolitano noted that Brett’s appearance on channel 42 will make things worse for others.
“He’s really walking the line of letting us question whether he’s a good guy or a good guy or a bad guy. We’re going to get to know him and we’re going to see him later in the season. “We really want to invest in this character. We know him through the progression of the arc. People want to know who this brother is and what is his agenda?”
Napolitano didn’t give Brett’s true intentions, saying, “The things we’re going to find out about his style, where they come from and how they’re going to surprise us are these little shots of finding out who Richards is.”

“It’s a fire show. Anyone can leave at any time,” he said of character deaths and character departures. “But in terms of losing people, we also add some really interesting guests. It’s a revolting door of people from Sharon’s past and sweet faces to bring conflicts and secrets and twists.”
While we “really blacked it out” this season, the show had to walk a “fine line” that would still pay for the loss found on screen.
“What we’ve done has really moved the needle of honor – especially Vince – because Gabriella is gone but she’s gone on to a respected and successful life. But we’re leaving with the hope of honor,” he noted. “I’m looking forward, the whole season is rising from the ashes and recovery.”
Napolitano continued: “How do you recover from something like this and we will really see everyone rise to the occasion. In celebration of his life and honoring the sacrifice he made.”
The land of fire AIRS ON CBS OFFIDAY AT 9 PM ET. New episodes will be broadcast the next day via Paramount +.
