The great Egyptian museum has grands opened after thirty and thirty and more than $ 1 billion

Cairo – The Egyptian government hosted many foreign leaders and dignitaries on Saturday as they held the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, a $1 billion project in multi-funding and budget ballooning.

The GEM is one of the largest museums in the world, and the largest dedicated to a single civilization: Ancient Egypt. Its subject matter covers about 7000 years, from preIhistory to the end of Greek and Roman about 400 ad

The initial cost of the more than 5 million, triangular structure by a mile from the miles from the giza field was estimated at $500 million, but the final price tag was more than that. Costing more than $1 billion, the project was financed with Egyptian resources and international cooperation.

In front of the main entrance stands a 53-meter-high obelisk, the only one of its kind in the world. The Obelisk itself is about 3,500 years old, but it remains standing and is viewed from a modern building with a glass floor, so visitors can look and see its ancient writing from before it is possible.

Beyond is the grand staircase, with 108 steps that bring people the equivalent of six stories to the grand, picture-perfect galleries all the way to the top.

GEM has 12 core exhibition halls, covering 194,000 square meters.

The number of art on display is almost twice as expected because of the ancient treasures of Egypt, officials say that about 100,000 objects will be stored in the halls.

To put that in perspective, if a visitor were to spend one minute looking at each artifact on display in a museum, it would take 70 days without sleep to view the entire collection.

The triangular design of the Museum radiates from its entrance to the three main pyramids of Giza, perfectly matching their positions. Its walls and its roof follow the same lines, rising to the highest places of the pyramids, but not exceeding the height of the ancient structures, out of respect for their builders.

The interior of the Museum offers amazing views of the pyramids. The concept may sound simple, but it required a significant consideration of the topography of the area, which involved the excavation and removal of 79 foundation feet for seven months, which lasted seven months.

King Ramses II was there first

In the entrance courtyard of the gem, stands a huge, 3,200-year-old statue of King Ramses II. This statue was moved in 2006 from a busy square in Central Cairo to an area near the great pyramids, where I stand awaiting the construction of the New World Museum.

The 83-ton journey took 10 hours, slowly processing through the streets of Egypt under heavy security as people watched on TV.

Ramses was later moved to a new permanent home, about 400 yards away, and a Museum was built there.

The complete collection of King Tut

The main attraction of the gem, it can be argued, is the complete collection of the famous King Tutankhamun, the golden boy.

All 5,398 objects from the tomb of the 13th Pharaoh of the 18th dynasty of ancient Egypt, who ruled from about 1333 to 1323 BC, will be displayed together in one place since it was discovered in 1922.

The new showroom is six times the size of the one that housed the tut collection, at the ancient Egyptian museum in central Cairo.

King Khufu’s boats

The GEM also boasts the King Khufu’s Boots Museum, which displays 4,500-year-old boots built for use on journeys to the afterlife.

These two royal boats were found in 1954 near the pyramid of Khufu. It took experts more than 10 years to reassemble the original boat. It is now being reconstructed and moved to a museum in 2021. Museum visitors can also view a second conservation project.

Scholars believe that they were used in KHUFU’s Funeral Press or for his journey with the Sun God after life.

The long road to the Great Egyptian Museum

The concept of a large museum at this site in Egypt dates back more than 32 years. The government first allocated 117 hectares for the project in the area in 1992.

In early 2002, Egypt launched a major international architectural competition to find the winning design for the Museum. 2,227 architects from 103 countries applied to submit designs, and in August of that year, 1,550 from 83 countries submitted visual designs.

A few months ago the officials whitelisted the options down to the bottom of only 20 projects to put forward in the second stage. In July 2003, an award – and a major contract – was awarded to Ireland to build PengEghan Peng.

The plan was originally for the museum to open in 2010, but a series of events including Financial Issuespolitics bearsthe COVID 19 epidemic again Regional Wars delay them in raising the curtain.

A government spokesperson said that the opening ceremony will receive an unprecedented number of world leaders, with large heads of state, including royalty, expected to attend, and a large number of high-ranking officials from around the world, although there were no confirmations.

The Egyptian authorities hope that the new Museum will boost the country’s tourism industry, and with it, a dynamic struggling economy. They once predicted that the gem would attract about 5 million visitors a year.
