China has long scrutinized Muslim communities and religious sites, but a video circulating online of a report demolishing a building resembles Beijing’s Crashdown. The clip actually shows the demolition of an illegal building at an amusement park in Indonesia.
“China officially declares Islam a mental illness,” read the edited text of a deleted tiktok video shared on it October 6, 2025.
The 45-second clip showed a passenger knocking on a building that looked like a mosque.

Rights groups say China is holding more than a million Muslims, mostly UyGhurs, in a network of facilities in Xinjiang that are rife with violence, abuse, forced immigration, political abuse and other abuses (political link).
Beijing strongly denies the allegationsthen mention the voluntary centers placed in training centers that were closed years ago after the attendees “graduated”.
According to a report from the NEPROFIT HUDIME REALMENCE Budget for 2023, the Chinese government has reduced the number of mosques in Ningxia and Gansu – important Muslim provinces – under “mosque consolidation” (link saved).
A video of a mosque-like building in Down circulated the same claim in early March. It is being remastered in October in all different languages including English, Greek, Portuguese, and as part of the compilation in Burmese.
AFP has released a post earlier sharing the same video with a false claim showing India knocking on mosques. In fact, the clip shows an illegal structure at an amusement park in Indonesia.
A reverse search for Keyframes from the video found a high-quality version of the same clip on Tiktok on March 8, 2025 (archived link).
The Indonesian language caption reads:
The caption also includes a disclaimer in English that the building is an “Indian-style building in a pleasant park”, not a mosque.

Hibisc Fantasy Park was an amusement park in Puncak, a mountain pass in the West Java province of Indonesia, which has been closed permanently since March 2025.
A now-deleted long video of the demolition was shared on Facebook on March 14, 2025.
According to a local news report, the governor of West Java Dedi Maulyadi had ordered the demolition of illegal structures in Hibisc Fantasy Park after floods in early March 2025 killed three people here too).
The development of the park has disturbed the ecological cover of the area, contributing to flooding, the governor had said.
The buildings seen in the video tour correspond to those seen in the stock photos of the Indonesia Theme Park uploaded to Google Maps.
