The Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, declared a terrorist organization by the Canadian government in September, appears to be re-examining Canadian society as a criminal group with goals that only pursue bad guys.
The longtime gang has used social media to claim or deny responsibility for the shooting, threaten rivals, and issue various types of statements. It often posts videos of its violent exploits.
Lately, however, the bandit seems determined to improve its public image.
The attempt to replicate the look in the communities of South Asia, especially in British Columbia and Ontario, continue to receive a wave of attacks related to robbery.
Early Thursday, India’s Most Famous Monayeli cafe Kapil Sharma In Surrey, BC, there was a third attack, I shot bullets through the windows while the workers were working inside. No one is hurt.
A video showing one of those bodies was posted online. In it, a man can be seen firing an automatic rifle from a car window into a glass building at night.
“This has the hallmarks of a robbery,” Surrey police spokesman Ian Macdonald told CBC News, adding that his department and the Provincial Task Force are already investigating the previous shooting at Kap’s Cafe.
Surrey Police say there have been at least 64 reported rape claims and 35 related shootings in the city this year, including a week that saw his wife shot while she was sleeping in her bed.
Police later said he may not have been the intended target. He was taken to hospital in critical condition but survived.
The Bishnoi gang has been determined to tell the public that it is not involved in targeting innocent people, and that some of the attacks and attempted robberies carried out under the Bishnoi name are carried out by members who claim the group’s loyalty.
It is also said that it will target employers who abuse female workers, or who exploit temporary workers from other countries and international students.
On the night of Oct. 5, a member of the Bishnoi gang that goes by the name of Fate Portugal claims responsibility for three shootings in the Surrey area (AKA Tesi), a famous Canadian family that owns a truck business and a radio station.
The gang posted a video of the shooting. One showed a man in a black jacket with a bullpup-style military-style automatic rifle
Another video, shot from inside a car, appeared to show the same man with a high-angle shot of the subject’s feet from a different location. The third video shows an entry on Surrey’s radio station Surrey 1200am. Several gunshots were heard.
The shooting was followed by a Facebook post in which ‘Fateh Portugal’ was written and three Surrey addresses were targeted.
“Sat Sri Akal, RAM – RAM to all our brothers. We take responsibility for those who harassed and fired in Canada in the name of the last three days,” the post read.
“We don’t have a personal problem with SWILD 1200 AM, but Navi Tesi is raking in 5 million from Lawrence Bishnoi’s residents, so we’re keeping a close eye on him.”
In a statement given to local media, the family denied the Bishnois’ claims.
“I, I am Kulant Dhesi, on behalf of myself and my son Navi Dhesi, I want to make it absolutely clear that I and my son have never taken even one man or a regular singer of LMIA [Labour Market Impact Assessment] Or by robbery, “says.” These allegations are completely false. “
Jinny Sims, a former BC MLA who hosts a show on the target radio station, spoke to CBC News about the shooting and the claims of social groups.
“I’m not sure if it’s one organization behind it, or many copycats, or copycats,” said Sims, noting that the radio station is referred to Studio by Studio with a high wave in the community.
One bullet was stopped by the fourth wall and entered just before entering the same studio, Sims said.
He said that whoever did this shooting was just looking for “dirty” by making accusations against the Desi family.
“I have known navi Dhesi for a very long time. He is a businessman in our community,” said Sims.
“He’s a rock. His businesses are targeted. His home is targeted. And refer to Social Media Exporform [designed] misleading seems to me like blaming the victim. “
Within 24 hours of the shooting of the DHESI family, two Surrey restaurants belonging to a South Asian businessman were also attacked.
No one was working in the restaurant at the time. Another restaurant of the same chain was targeted just a church away in Maple Ridge, BC
Goldy Dhillon, a Bishnoi Associate who also claimed responsibility for the shooting at Kap’s Cafe, posted that he ordered three restaurants targeted because the owner misbehaved.
“Anyone who does such things will face the same consequences,” Dhillon wrote.
CBC News spoke to someone at the restaurant who said the owner would go back, but had not heard from them by the time of publication.
Gurpreet Sahota, a well-known journalist in the South Asian community, said that Bishnois seem to be motivated by a desire to intimidate the actors and keep the audience in line.
Those were the reasons given for the attack by the Dhesi family, he said.
“Basically what they are saying right now is that some Midlamen are collecting money and the money is not coming,” Sahota told CBC news.
“So let’s say someone was praised. The Bishnois would ask for $1 million, then the middleman would say: So the group gave $200,000 or $500,000 instead of $1,000,000 to them. The Bishnois said the money never reached them.”
Sahota said buwant desi, the father of Navi Dhesi, denied that his family had taken the money.
“He threw everything away [Dhillon] he said. [He said] ‘No, it’s completely wrong. We have never collected a penny from anyone. ‘”
The Bishnois’ reasons for providing some of their shots fit the way of trying to improve the group’s public image, Sahota said.
They say, ‘We rob only those who have robbed the community.’– Gurpreet Sahota, Journalist
“Bishnois say let’s target the hardworking businessmen of Canada [and especially not] or any non-Punjabi business. They said, ‘We rob only those who have robbed the community. So, it’s a Robin Hood type of thing,” he said.
“Basically they said [they’re targeting] People who cheat international students, use Lmias to bring in poor people and abuse them, or people who abuse girls in their businesses. That kind of stuff. “
The Bishnois campaign to present themselves where they are best has been successful in some areas of the community, said Sahota.
“People say that no one is asking for money from us, and the only people who have been asked are those who are somehow involved in wrong things. So this is a division now.
“But at the same time, a few people are worried that these gangsters are after the big fish now – but in the long run, they will eventually go after the little people.”
Various alleged Bishnoi attackers have been released or found guilty in Canada, including the political assassination of SINEPH SINGAH NIBA, BC, at the home of Punjabi Music Star AP Dhillon.
“People are shooting into people’s businesses, people are shooting into people’s homes where the kids and grandkids live,” Sims said. The shooting at Kap’s Cafe was particularly brazen, because it was under the control of the police.
“The police have a lot of surveillance, and from what I’ve been told they do it all the time with Drive-ins. And yet, someone came and shot [it] then he posted a video. “
Sims also mentions an attempt by the Bishnois to repeat Rebraw
