Thailand is in a period of national mourning

[ad_1]

Thailand is one of the world’s favorite travel destinations for celebrities and budget-conscious shoppers alike, offering picture-perfect islands, friendly locals, active city life, and healthy food. But tourists planning to visit the land of smiles in the near future should pay attention: The country is currently in the period of October 93. X). She received the official title of Queen Mother in 2019 when Rama X was crowned. Although Thailand – like Great Britain – is a constitutional miracle, the royal family has great cultural and emotional power over the Thai people, and plays a fundamental role in social formation, political governance and religious life.

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), starting October 25, 2025, the National Flag will fly at half-staff for 30 days in all government offices, educational institutions. Government authorities, civil servants, and civil servants have been asked to wear mourning clothes for one year, and while the general public is not authorized to do so, they are also encouraged to dress in dark or muted tones for 90 days because of 90 days because of 90 days without respect. Most business, social functions, and entertainment events are not suspended, but event organizers are encouraged to be creative to reflect the “national state of mourning.” In addition, Bangkok’s Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) – the city’s two main tourist attractions – are currently closed to tourists until November 8, 2025, when Queen Sirikit’s elaborate ceremonies take place.

Some festivals will adjust their festivals during the mourning period

During Thailand’s national mourning, some events will be organized to show more strength. VIJIT ChaO Phraya, a famous light image with Bangkok in the Bangkok region that was set up on November 15, was forced back from November 9 to December 23, and the firework display took place with a Drone Light show showing honor to the Queen of the Drone. Other Cultural Lantern festivals will remain as scheduled, although fireworks and celebratory displays will be held back.

Thailand remains one of the best places to travel in December, and despite the temporary closure of the main palace, many unassuming things remain open in Bangkok and all over the country. Many hotels, restaurants, transportation, and tourist activities will also remain open, as will Pho, another notable city symbol. Experts emphasize that Thailand is in a place that is in season for all time, but tourists should dress respectfully, especially when visiting temples or in the capital – colors that are open to fake capital and a nice dress.

Bottom line for tourists planning to visit Thailand in the next few weeks: Pack Black or modest colors and modest clothing; Be respectful and keep your voice down in the great temples or wherever you see places of mourning; Confirm any scheduled events as changes may be made; Also check the latest announcements on the TAT website. It’s also important to note that, in Thailand, criticism of the royal family is not allowed, and defying that law – even in terms of death sentences – can carry possible prison sentences.

The grand palace will be opened on November 9, and visitors to Bangkok should make time to visit the Queen Sirikit Textile Museum, located in the Ratsadakorn-Bhibhathana building. This museum is dedicated to his Njabumandla Sirikit, known as “the mother of the nation” and was often called “the spirit of Thai nature, and political efforts by changing Thailand to a world-famous cultural destination. The Textile Museum, sometimes bound by shiny pagodas, buddhas, and ramakien murals, puts an amazing collection of his wardrobe of his maids.

Sirikit is also one of two queens in Thailand’s history – in 1956, she was a prison warden while her husband, King Bhumibol adoulAdej, spent time at a Buddhist temple studying to become a monk. She often accompanies her husband on state visits around the world, and is said to help put her small country on the world stage. She is beloved by Thailand, and her birthday, August 12, is celebrated as National Mother’s Day.
