Star Wars has had high-profile failures since Disney bought the rights to the franchise, including blockbuster films like Rise of Skywalker and ambitious TV shows such as The Acolyte. One bright spot in recent years Ahsokaseries that introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn and various minions Rebels characters in live action.
Fans have been waiting for a new season, but it looks like they’ll have to wait a little longer: Disney just released a media kit that highlights everything coming out in 2026, and the apparent lack of Ahsoka means we’ll have to wait until 2027 to see another show that premiered back in 2023.
No Ahsoka Scheduled for 2026
The aforementioned Disney media kit is pretty comprehensive, including both Marvel and Star Wars releases. The kit focuses exclusively on three upcoming projects set in a galaxy far, far away: the upcoming film The Mandalorian and the Grogu and an animated TV series Mol: Lord of the shadows again Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi. Ahsoka could not be seen, making it appear that the second season of the highly anticipated television show will be delayed longer than we thought.
Does this mean it is impossible Ahsoka Season 2 to be released in 2026? Not necessary: the program issued in the media kit is not the same as the official announcement of the delay. Also, some fans think that Disney may have left this flagship show out of the preview because all the projects in the media kit have confirmed release dates, too. Hit Star Wars Show Loses Momentum
If there has never been a confirmed release date for Season 2, then why do so many people think the show is delayed? The short answer is filming Season 1 wrapped in October 2022, and the show (after the addition of important features like special effects) didn’t come out until August 2023. When Season 2 wrapped filming in October 2025, fans began to despair that (assuming Disney followed the same production timeline) they would have to wait until 2026 to see it.
Now, AhsokaThe absence of a Disney preview kit means the show won’t return until 2027, which means House of Mouse is really playing with fire here. The show was a milestone when the Star Wars franchise needed one, but the long production schedule threatened to stall the series in pop culture. If it ends up coming out as late as 2027, fans may not be happy about something they had to wait for. half a decade to see.
The Longest Wait Time Than Any Star Wars Trilogy Movie
Ahsoka it can come out much earlier than that. Also, it could come out in 2026, and Disney just left it out of their press kit for unknown reasons. It’s worth pointing out that if it comes out after August next year, there will be more than a three-year wait between seasons. That’s longer than the wait between films in any of the three Star Wars trilogies, and only time will tell if fans are still happy Ahsoka when it eventually limps back to Disney+.
Either way, we can only hope so Ahsoka it comes back sooner rather than later; like Obi-Wan Kenobi, this plucky show may be “our only hope” to return the Star Wars franchise to its former glory. Streaming rival Netflix recently reached a deal to buy Warner Bros; if they have a license for things like Harry Potter, Disney + will not be able to afford more bombs like that The Acolyte. If Ahsoka Season 2 doesn’t seem like a huge success, so Disney’s $4 billion IP might die faster than you can say “avada kadavra!”
