Sarah Shahi he promised that Paradise fans can look forward to more twists and turns on screen when the hit Hulu series returns for season 2.
“Roller coaster ride. [Creator Dan Fogelman] he is very good at taking the audience and pulling the rug out from under them,” Shahi, 45, teased. Shahi is “excited” about the new episodes that will be shown on February 23 after he had to remain tight-lipped about the show’s return.
“It feels great. I love all the jobs I’ve been in for different reasons, but it’s great to be in something that people love. When the passion is that high, it just puts an extra pep in your step,” he said. “Driving to work in the morning, it feels so good.”
The actress, who plays the grieving psychologist Gabriela, praised Fogelman’s vision, adding, “Dan is an incredible writer, and what I love about him is that he’s an even better person. I’m like, ‘How could that be?’ Writing about his greatest strengths is between working on his new NFL show, Paradise and Only Killing in the Building. He’s just an incredible person.”
Shahi continued: “The thing I’ve seen from working with very talented people is that there’s a level of confidence in their work. If one of us as actors feels like the industry needs to change or we have a question about something, he takes the time to listen. He’s not important about things. It was really nice to feel that creative freedom and feel like you have a real seat at the table.”
After returning to the 2nd season of the film, Shahi relished the opportunity to develop his character further, adding, “It helps to fill in the lines. A lot of times when I’m breaking down a character or watching something, I like to play what I can’t. Perfect people are boring. I look at the opening of the veneer, and it just takes a lot of conversations with the director and making sure that the director puts things together. Go with the story as a whole. It takes a lot of conversations and building something together – and that’s Dan let him.”
Hulu’s political thriller Paradisewhich premiered in January 2025, set the internet abuzz as viewers speculated about the various buildings. Fogelman’s hit series was originally set in a quiet and affluent society forced to face the reality of a shocking murder. In true Fogelman fashion, however, there was a twist at the end of the premiere, when Paradise was revealed to be a dungeon inhabited by the world’s elite after a cataclysmic event wiped out all of humanity.

“I was sick of network programming. I’d go to work and it felt like there was a piece missing from my soul,” she told us about the hiatus before booking her dream role as Billie Connelly in 2021. Shahi acknowledged the challenges caused by that decision.
“My lawyers were not happy with the decision. I was making good money as a network player, and I took a chance on myself and said, ‘You know what? It’s okay to sit on the sidelines for a while, not make money, because I hope it comes back,'” he recalls. “And it happened, but yes, it was difficult. I had a lot of people in my ear telling me that I was making a mistake.”
Life is Healthy It not only affects the ups and downs of Shahi’s career but also changes in his personal life. Shahi deliberately chose to use the lessons he learned as a way to help others facing similar problems.
“I really hope that people will have the courage to live their lives as honestly as possible. That’s exactly what I want. I really want people to have the courage to live honestly and not worry about what people think,” he said. “I wrote this book to heal myself. I didn’t expect it to come out on top. But my point in writing is that, there was a great simplicity that came to me in the end that I would like other people to have that kind of feeling.”
Paradise premieres February 23 on Hulu with new episodes every Monday. Life Is Lifey: IA to Z on Navigating Life’s Messy Middle will hit bookshelves on January 27.
