Whether it’s current national or international events, work-related stress, problems with our families, chronic health issues, personal relationships or financial difficulties, we don’t have to look far to find a source of anxiety, thought-provoking.

Can I survive this season? What if … ? Who can I really trust?

My own type includes 3 wake-up calls accompanied by a frenzy of mental exercises as I think about every single task that needs to be done, and try to find the right answer to several challenges in my family, work or business.

Tell me that there is no end to the fight and rest and peace.

To some extent, the battle against worrying thoughts is one we will always be fighting with. But as a follower of Jesus, I believe there is a way of life that helps us relieve the burden of anxiety.

In Luke 12:25-27, Jesus says:

“Which of you by worrying can add one hour to your life? Since you can’t do this little thing, why bother to rest?

The invitation to “Think about wildflowers” stops me in my tracks. Maybe it’s because where I live – southwest Colorado – it puts on a spectacular display of wildflowers every summer.

I spent a lot of time walking in the flower fields, talking to the Lord and sitting with this invitation. I was inspired to write a new devotional, “The Way of the Wildflower, “When we are in God’s creation and realize that if God takes care of the wildflowers, how much will he take care of me?

Here are five other “hidden” ways that I believe, if embraced, will help us live unaltered, even in the midst of situations that tempt us to toil and be thrown.

1. Wildflowers depend. Depending on God’s timing, the rain he allows, the seasons he has set and the nature he has set. They do not have land, fertilizers or daily prosperity. When we embrace this Wildflower path – not looking for a particular storyline, era or ideal situation – we stop being overwhelmed and completely dependent on the God who created us.

2. Wildflowers are free. Free yourself from worry, fear, worry and self-care. They are not worried about the storms in the storms, dragging the burden from yesterday or worrying about their days. They are in the place where God has placed them, crowned with his glory. When we embrace this wildflower approach, we don’t know what it means to not be changed by what we care about or carry.

3. Wildflowers are hardy. They are found in all kinds of unlikely places, from dry fields to dusty highways and rocky outcrops on mountain tops where there is no soil to speak of. In fact, they seem to have a knack for declining conditions that we would find unfavorable for growth.

When we who are in Christ receive in this Wildflower way, we are not dependent on our own strength or depth. Our resilience is a gift from God who sustains us, who enables and gives us what we need to persevere.

4. Wild flowers do not last. When wild plants are not growing vigorously, they are dormant, which means there may be no visible growth – but dormancy is not death; Relax. And it reminds us that the drivers of sorghum are never in a hurry to find the next season or jump ahead of their best flowering.

When we embrace this Wildflower approach, we slow down, refuse to rush the process or upset the slow seasons of our lives, and instead rest in God’s perfect timing.

5. Lovely wooden planks. I can’t help but wonder that God creates, designs and gives amazing details and beauty to the people of Wildflowers alone for his good pleasure, whether they are discovered or explored or invented or invented.

No two wildflowers are the same – each comes with its own characteristics, characteristics and characteristics. When we see the care that God has created where there are wildflowers, we can’t help but think that they are truly loved.

When we embrace this wildflower approach, we remember that we are uniquely known and cared for by God – precious and important, even if we feel small or hidden.

The next time you wake up at 3 am, try looking at the wildflowers and release your worries to the God who created you and promises to take care of you.
