Rob Reiner and wife Michele were found dead in their bedroom: LAPD

Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead in the first bedroom of their home in Brentwood, Calif., according to LAPD Assistant Chief Dominic Choi.

Choi confirmed the information during a report to the Los Angeles Police Board Commissioner on Tuesday, December 16.

The Reiners’ son and suspected killer, Nick Reiner, made his first court appearance Wednesday after being charged with the double murder of his parents. The suspect, 32, came to court wearing a green suicide vest. When the judge asked if Reiner had waived his rights, Nick said, “Yes, your honor.” His trial has been postponed to January 7.

The other day, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced the charges at a press conference with LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell.

“These cases will be two cases of murder and have a special case of mass murder,” said Hochman. “He also faces a special allegation that he used a dangerous and dangerous weapon, which is a knife. These charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.”

Both Rob and Michele died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.

Other important circumstances contributed to their deaths, the initial report said. Medical examiners determined Dec. 14 as the date of death for the Reiners, and ruled their deaths a homicide.

On Sunday, Nick was arrested for murdering his parents. Nick was found and arrested at approximately 9:15 pm near the University of Southern California campus.

The 32-year-old was initially held on $4 million bail, but records show he is being held without bail. On Monday, he was transferred to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, according to the report Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The night before the murder, friends of the Reiners family told Los Angeles Times that Nick had an argument with his parents at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party. Many people noticed that Nick was behaving strangely, according to the outlet.

“Nick was scaring everyone, pretending to be crazy, asking people if they were famous,” said the source People.

On Wednesday, Rob and Michele’s children, Jake and Romy Reiner, opened up about the “unimaginable pain” the pair went through after their parents’ death.

“Words cannot even describe the unimaginable pain we feel every moment of the day,” a statement provided to Fox News Digital read. “The terrible and tragic loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something no one should have to witness. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

“We are so grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but from people from all walks of life.”

“Now we ask for respect and privacy, to be influenced by compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the wonderful life they lived and the love they gave.”

Shortly after Nick appeared in court, his lawyer, Alan Jackson, admitted that there were a number of problems in the case against his client.

“First, and foremost, this is a tragic tragedy for the Reiner family,” Jackson said during a press conference Wednesday.

“We all realize that, our hearts go out to the entire Reiner family. There are very complex and sensitive issues associated with this case that need to be looked at carefully but carefully, and examined and looked at and analyzed.”
