“She had a sense of peace and tranquility on her face. She was also incredibly beautiful, like in her youth. You wouldn’t believe she was 91,” d’Ormale said.

Bardot’s funeral service took place at 11 am local time on Wednesday at the Notre-Dame de l’Assomption church in St-Tropez. He will be laid to rest in the family vault inside the city cemetery, where his parents are also buried.

“The event will show who he was, and the people who knew him and loved him. There is no doubt that there will be surprises, but it will be easy, just as Brigitte wanted,” Bruno Jacquelina spokesperson for the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, told AFP, according to a French report Le Monde newspaper.

News of Bardot’s death first surfaced last month.

“The Brigitte Bardot Foundation announces with great sadness the death of its founder and president, Madame Brigitte Bardot, a world-renowned actress and singer, who chose to leave her prestigious career to devote her life and energy to the welfare of animals and her foundation,” Bardot’s charity said in a statement to AFP at the time.

October 2025, French newspaper Var-Martin he reported that Bardot had undergone surgery for a “serious disease” and was in a “worrisome” condition. His office then confirmed that he had “minor surgery that went well” and is now recovering at home in St-Tropez.

Later that month, Bardot shut down internet rumors that she had died.

“I don’t know which idiot started this fake news about my disappearance tonight, but know that I am healthy and I do not intend to bow down,” he wrote in French via X. “A word to the wise.”

Bardot is survived by her husband, son Nicolas, granddaughters Anna and Théa and several great-grandchildren.
