Father, daughter killed in Florida plane crash taking aid to Jamaica – nationally
A father and daughter were killed when their small plane crashed Monday in Florida as they entered Jamaica at the end of a hurricane, according to the service.
Alexander Wurm, 53, and his daughter, Serena Wurm, 22, died after the plane crashed into a lake in a residential area outside Miami.
The Beechcraft King Air plane left Fort Lauderdale at 10:14 AM and was destined for Jamaica as part of Hurricane Melissa, a spokesperson for the Fort Lauderdale Airport told NBC News.
The Coral Springs Police Department and the Coral Springs-Portland Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash around 10:19 AM local time Monday, authorities said in a news release. They reported that no homes sustained major damage during the crash and asked residents to avoid the area to allow emergency teams to continue their work safely.
At 4 pm local time, the police of the city of Coral Springs confirmed that “two people lost their lives as a result of a plane crash that happened on November 10 at 10:19 AM”
“The investigation is ongoing. We are working closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and the Broward Sheriff’s office,” Police added in a news release.

Police also warned that residents may notice “a strong smell of gasoline in the air.”
“While most of these fumes have already come out, it may take some time for the rest to take effect. The city strongly recommends residents in the area to avoid being outside and keep their doors closed during the night,” said the police.
Understand the fire, the family service, identified Alexander Wurm and his daughter Serena as the victims of the accident at the post office.
“I would like to take this time to release some devastating news, that we are mourning the painful loss of my beloved brother, Alexander Wurm (53), and his daughter Serena (22), who died in a plane crash this morning,” said the Ministry.
The service, founded by Alexander and dedicated to identifying the potential of young people with a trip across the Caribbean, said that he was known for his warmth and his unwavering kindness, he gave his life to serve others. “
“Throughout his life, Alex traveled a lot, reaching different countries and continents, where he worked to bring faith, compassion, and support to those in need,” he added.
“Alex leaves behind his beautiful wife, Candace, and two children, son James (17) and daughter Christi (20),” the fire added. Serena, following in her father’s footsteps, was a beacon of compassion and hope, inspiring all with her commitment to humanitarian work.
“Together, their last journey was a reflection of courage and bravery, reminding us of the power of work and love. Rest in peace, Alexander and Serena – your light endures through all that has changed.”
Hurricane Melissa caused historic damage last month across Jamaica and Cuba, as well as other Caribbean nations, including Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Sean Malone, the founder of Frisis International Pensions, said he was shocked by the death of his father and daughter in a video shared on Facebook.
“Unfortunately, today we had a terrible and shocking tragedy. As you know, we had some very good challenges when the planes prevented us from getting the volunteers and the first responders to the nation,” said Malone.
He said the international organization, a non-profit organization that responds to disaster and humanitarian efforts around the world, was working with Alexander, who was flying in equipment “at his own expense.”
“Today he did not repent. Unfortunately, we found out that he crashed his plane on paper corals, in Florida, and he and his daughter did not survive. It is completely unbelievable.
