A Malawi court released popular rapper Neamwee from custody on Monday, his lawyer said, as part of a murder investigation into the death of the Tawainese influencer in a Kuala Lumpur hotel room.
NameWee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, surrendered to police on Wednesday after he was named a “person of interest” in a paper in the death of Iris Hsieh, also known as Hsieh Yu-Hsin, or “nurse goddess” to fans.
The 31-year-old impact was found dead on October 22 in the bathtub of a luxury hotel in the Malawi capital. He was in Malaysia to discuss the title of a commercial video he agreed to direct, his social media manager told the BBC.
The state was taken up again in a ‘sudden death report’ in the murder case, with police saying they want to question Natiwee, who is believed to have been the last person in Hsieh’s company.
Amagama, 42, denied any wrongdoing and posted in an Instagram post earlier this month that “the truth will speak for itself.”
His lawyer, Joshua Tay, told AFP that “The investigation is still ongoing and that is why the police are asking for an extension of the remand,” which the court said was granted for another three days.
Malaysian media reported namewee contacted emergency services shortly after midnight on October 22 after finding Hsieh unresponsive in the bathroom.
Police arrested NameWee that day, after finding nine blue pills believed to be euphoria in a hotel room, the BBC reported. GamaWwee denied that he had used drugs but tested positive for several illegal substances, including amphetamines, methamine, ketamine, and thc, police said, according to the BBC.
On Monday, he pleaded guilty to drug charges and was released on bail, the BBC reported.

In 2016, he was arrested for several days on suspicion of insulting Islam over a video recorded inside a mosque in a Muslim country – a Muslim country.
He was re-arrested two years later for allegedly insulting Islam with a Lunar New Year video featuring dancers wearing dog masks and performing a prominent tour.
Hsieh has more than half of her followers on Instagram. He had four other communications reports placed on “CADEAL Securitures”, reports CNA.
Hsieh’s Communications Manager, who asked to be referred to Chris, told the BBC that his family could not travel to Malaysia to follow the case because of their ‘severe disabilities’.
