Poland says the train blast was an ‘unprecedented act of sabotage’ – nationally

[ad_1]

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tark said Monday’s blast on a rail line used for deliveries to Ukraine was an “unprecedented act of humanity.”

A Polish security source told related media that the authorities are investigating whether the explosion on Sunday on the line connecting Warsaw to eastern Poland was linked to Russia, Belarus or their proxies.

Tek vowed that Poland would arrest the perpetrators, “Even if there are any.”

When I visited the site on Monday, the Prime Minister said that this incident happened on an important line to bring aid to Ukraine. Polish authorities say they are certain that an explosive device was released in the Warsaw and Lublin section and later received damage to the upper floors. Both would recommend it, Polish officials said.

Western authorities have blamed Russia and its proxies for a spate of attacks and other incidents across Europe since the invasion of Ukraine three years ago, according to information gathered by the AP. Moscow’s goal, Western officials say, is to undermine support for Ukraine, fear and divide European communities.

The probability that these two incidents on the Rail Line happened “in the sequence of foreign services” was “very high” Tomasz Siamoniak, Minister of Security in Poland.

Investigators are investigating the two alleged cases and are investigating whether they were deliberate acts in a hostile environment, a Polish security source said on condition of anonymity.

“The attackers show a high degree of professionalism and expert training,” they said.

A train driver on the line between the capital, Warsaw and Lublin in south-eastern Poland reported problems with the track around 7:40 am on Sunday. Additional inspections determined there was damage to a section of the track near the village of Mika, about 100 kilometers (62 miles) southeast of Warsaw, officials said.

“We can say beyond a doubt that an explosive device was attacked, damaging the train tracks,” said Minister of Internal Affairs Marcin Kierwiąski.

It was not immediately clear whether the explosion and damage occurred on Saturday or early Sunday. Two passengers and several employees were on the train, but no injuries were reported, officials said.

Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said the forces planned to inspect 120 kilometers (about 75 miles) of the Warsaw-Lublin-Hrubiin-Hrubiinz-Hrubiinzów Line, which connects Ukraine by rail and road.

Another train in the śWinoujście-rzeszów route on the same line was forced to stop on Sunday night in Publin after damage to the electric cakes, said Kerwiąski on Monday. About 60 meters (196 feet) was damaged, he said. Puławy is located between Mika and Lublin on the same railway line that connects Warsaw to the Ukrainian border.

When the train was stopped, there were 475 passengers on board but no injuries were reported although several windows of the train were damaged.

Speaking about Rutte at a press conference in Brussels following the announcement from Poland, Finnish President Stubb said European nations need to keep “cool heads.”

He warned against more and more interference in the name of Russia, warning that, “this is unfortunately a common practice. What Russia is trying to do is to reduce our communities with information and other campaigns.”

In an interview on Saturday at the Finnish military base, Stubb said that Moscow is conducting “two types of war” – a kinetic war in Ukraine and a hybrid war in Europe.

“The line between war and peace is blurred,” Stibb said.
