A newly released video shows the aftermath of a violent storm that ended with a car on fire and a couple being beaten in what officials are calling “New York City over the weekend.
The incident broke out around 12:30 in the morning, after a large group of drivers descended on South Drive and 141st Street in Malba, a neighborhood located in Queens, according to the NYPD.
The cars were seen speeding over the legal limit and doing donuts on the street as the scene turned chaotic, according to a video shared by city mayor Vickie Paladino, who represents the neighborhood.
As events unfolded, Larry Rusch, a private security guard who lives in the area, heard a commotion outside his home and went out to find about 40 cars speeding down the road, in accordance with New York post office.

In an attempt to remove this situation, Rusch is reported to have parked one of his cars in the intersection to try to stop the drivers from causing more damage.
“As soon as I did that, everybody started taking off,” Rusch said. “After that two people went up to the car. Somehow they threw some kind of fire or something and lit the car. Then Melee started.”
The video shared by Paladino shows a burning car in the middle of a residential street as several cars speed around it.

In addition, local Blake Ferrer was injured while trying to protect his property from the Rowdy of Drivers group, the Post reported.
“When I came out, I said, ‘Broni, you guys are going to get my stuff,'” Ferrer told the outlet. “And that’s where it all started.”
The crowd was reported to have turned their attention to Ferrer, who, according to the additional inquiry, showed a group of people who allegedly attacked the owner of the house and his wife, leaving the man with a broken nose, shoulder and ribs.

A third resident also had items thrown at his car during the incident, the Post reported.
“[The community] He has been attacked for the past two years with domestic horberies, burglaries, car thefts and these smart people,” Paladino told “fox & friends” on Tuesday morning.
As the sun rose on Sunday morning, the effects of this attack on the middle class neighborhood became more apparent.

In a video shared by Paladino on social media, Council can be seen standing by Rusch’s side as he points out skid marks all over the road and his burnt-out car with its windows burning.
Paladino also reportedly spoke to several residents who were injured in the melee or saw their property destroyed.
“At 12:30 a.m. yesterday evening, a hundred animals descended on this project,” said Paladino. “Go ahead and you’ll see skid marks. But most importantly, I want you to look at this car. They put the car on fire

In a previous statement, Paladino blasted the NYPD’s response time, adding that residents who called 911 to report the incident were told that “the quality of life team and 311 should be handling this situation.”
However, the NPPD said in a statement to FOX News Digital that while the first responding officer was mature enough to make a serious call, if authorities discovered that the incident had escalated, an officer was immediately dispatched to the scene.
