Nondastery Airstrike Video Falsely Linked Scam Center RAID in Myanmar

After Myanmar’s military attack on Scam centers in October 2025 that prompted more than 1,000 people to flee to Thailand, social media users also shared a video of an old surprise attack that showed one of the cybersam hubs displaying a bomb. The footage It actually shows the spirit of the palace in the palace in Indaw, Northern MYANMAR, in April 2025.

The caption also includes two hashtags: #scammernyinmyanmar and #myanmarscammerbuildingExplosion.

The post – which has received more than 1.9 million views and 64,000 likes – shares a clip of a flight with 15 explosions in a green tree on a green roof on a gold roof next to gold, which links the screen to the drone.

Other posts sharing the same video and similar claims also appeared on Thai language posts on Tiktok and Facebook as well as in English.

More than 1,000 people, mostly Chinese, have fled Myanmar for Thailand, Thai authorities say, a day after Myanmar’s military attacked one of the country’s main areas. (Archived Link).

Thai authorities told AFP that most of those believed to be from KK Park, a popular center for the scam’s MyAwaddy Township.

Sprawling Cybersam Hubs, where traffickers stalk victims through online reporting, have flourished along the border that Myanmar loosely controls during the country’s long civil war.

Old bomb video

A retrospective image search using video keyframes led to a longer version of the footage shared on the Indaw Revolution Facebook page, on September 26 (that’s why you last visited here).

A voice can be heard and it means that the palace has collapsed.

Using another keyword search on Indaw’s Facebook account, AFP found a post from April 1 sharing satellite images over Indaw township and two civilians being killed by bombs (planted with bombs).

Another post on April 4 shared the destroyed monastery (link saved).

Google Earth satellite images of Indaw Township Matned Elements were seen in the false post, including buildings and a pagoda (archived link).

Myanmar Witness, an organization that reports human rights abuses in Myanmar, said on April 1 Myanmar Air Force fighter jets dropped bombs on Indaw Mbomatey (link saved).

Burma’s voice for democracy also reported casualties after armed forces bombed the palace two days in a row: April 1 and April 2 (link saved).

AFP has continued to be misrepresented by SCAM agencies.
