Rep. Mikie Sherrill, DN.J., has the largest number of missed votes of any writer in the House of Representatives by a wide margin as she has the next Jersey party.

The second closest member, Donald Norcross, DN.J., missed by 83 votes.

When asked about that record, director Sean, Sherrill’s campaign communications director, said Congressman Mounisi works to represent the state when possible.

Although Sherrill’s high number of lost votes is not visible, it stands as one of the only examples in recent years where a member of the House has continued to participate in a competitive bid for a competitive office.
For Matthew Green, Director of Graduate Studies at the University of America, he is speaking to a surprisingly strong race – in a state that has voted strongly blue in years past.
“It certainly suggests that it’s a race close enough to Sherrill that they should spend as much time as they can in Washington and that would mean, ‘Well, the voters could do a new job now, why should they trust you with a new job. “But you’re only campaigning once. I saw students say, ‘I can miss a lot of votes, and that won’t hurt me when I’m working in an office.'”
According to a FOX News poll last week, Sherrill leads Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli by a narrow margin of four points, 48%-44%, among registered voters. His lead has shrunk over the past few months, having boasted a seven-point lead over his opponent one month before September.

Chris Russell, an expert on the Ciattarelli Campaign, noted that Sherrill’s absence has become more difficult as the November election approaches. He pointed out that Sherry missed 87% of the vote three months ago, only participating in eight of the 63 votes in that window.
“He was running for re-election to Congress in 2024 knowing full well he had no intention of doing his job. And when he renews the votes will be cast,” said Russell. “That Sherrill missed nearly 90% of the votes he should have cast three months ago is a disgrace.”
Sherrill joined her Democratic colleagues in voting for a short-term spending package last month and Donald Trump’s signature tax and border security package in July.
Top gubernatorial race rocked by allegations of leaks and dirty tricks amid release of improper military records
In previous years Proxy voting was completed in 2023 which was in the coexistence with the 19 pandemic, only one member of the house ran for the election compared to the votes.
Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who ran for the Senate in 2024, participated in only 52% of the votes in the Chamber. But unlike the New Jersey Lawmacker, Schiff enjoyed a large lead over his opponent; He won his election with a mark of 17.8%.
On the other side of the coin, rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-mich. Besides Schiff, the other six members who pursued the senate bird that year had a participation record of 80% or more.
Notably, the only other member pursuing governorship in 2025, former Rep. Abigail Spanberger, R-VA.

Luhlaza, a professor from a Catholic university, said there is no hard and fast rule in American Politics when it comes to obtaining a resignation from a campaign position. He pointed out the candidates who made news of suddenly leaving the seats to pursue something different.
“We don’t have the norm in this country for people to leave their office to work in another office. In the 1996 presidential election, Robert Dole, who was running against [Bill] Clinton, he said, ‘I’m going to leave the Senate while I serve as President,’ and that got national attention. I wouldn’t expect Sherrill to do the same thing. But that is dangerous. ”

Despite the gap closed in the past months, Russell, Ciattarelli Strategistiost, emphasized that Sherrill still lives the race with only three weeks until the election on November 4.
“Jack Ciattarelli doesn’t have the nerve to stand up to his boss in the White House. Show Wonder Jack continues to follow, even in the media polls, where he can’t deal with health care, spending, taxes!”
