In a previous letter, Ferguson urged his party to refrain from pursuing ways to renew the renewal cycles of the Maryland lines, fearing that the process could be reversed.

“I believe the mid-cycle re-ignition in Maryland is twisting the order of short-term gains while relying on trust and retention, but that’s no reason not to pursue it,” he wrote. “Simply put, it’s very dangerous and jeopardizes Maryland’s ability to fight the radical Trump Administration.”

Moore told CBS’ “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan that “the fight for democracy can never be dangerous” and stood by his reinstatement order despite opposition to Ferguson.

“My job is to make sure I protect the democratic process,” Moore said. “I and the President of the Senate and I and the President can say, we agree on the problem that Donald Trump has entered. He agrees with the fact that we have watched the administration using the constitution as a suggestion box.”

“Where we differ is the urgency that this moment requires, fighting this moment requires,” he continued. “And I am someone who will not allow Donald Trump to decide if Maryland follows this idea that, we will do everything possible to make sure that we protect our democracy.”

Brennan pressed Moore over whether he considered the revitalization efforts in Maryland to be “wrong,” noting that Maryland has only one Republican representative. Moore insisted he would not draw maps and only wanted a bipartisan commission to measure recovery efforts in other states.

“I want this bipartisan commission to be able to talk to people and be able to continue their process and just say if other states are going to stay in this process, that Donald Trump tells us,” said Moore Trump. “That’s not how this process is going to work.”
