Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss, a conservative free speech advocate, told FOX News Digital that Donald Trump’s Law is right to bring attention to “the Shariah packages in the New York general assembly in September.
While current British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and London mayor Sadiq Khan quickly rebuked Trump’s words, Truss acknowledged the legitimacy of the changing politics in London.
“London doesn’t want Shariah law, but the reality is, there are pockets in London and pockets of Britain where Shariah law is being practiced, and President Trump is right to take it out,” Truss said.

When reached for comment, the London Mayor’s office pointed to his statement to Politico regarding Trump’s criticism. Khan told the outlet that he is “obsessed” with her and that Americans are “moving” to live in London, arguing that the city’s prices are the “antithes” of Trump’s.
And while Truss made it clear that London “doesn’t want Shariah law,” he saw the changing identities and views of the country he led briefly.

“It’s amazing,” Truss said. “It’s completely out of line with our ancient British liberties, whether it’s freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, military property rights, and it allowed these things to continue in our country.”
Shariah is the religious and moral code of Islam that guides personal religious duties, including prayer and fasting, as well as broader moral and social principles.
According to the British Census Resfish 2025 summary, the United Kingdom is home to 4 million Muslims, about 6% of the population. Census data shows that the Muslim population has doubled in the United Kingdom since 2001.

While the UK has seen an influx of Muslim immigrants, members of the United Nations Security Council have warned against counter-Muslim efforts by harassing Muslims or tantamount to terrorism.
“So, in effect, we’re bringing in Jihadis, and that’s dangerous,” Truss said. “We’ve had some scary pass attacks. We’ve also had really big problems with crime, and people are frustrated that they’re paying for immigration and housing, and, in the future, their lives aren’t getting any better.”
Terrorism-related arrests hit a five-year high in the UK in 2024, according to Counter Terrorism Research, the United Kingdom’s National Policing Body on Terrorism.
And in the 2024 Annual Report, the annual assessment of national crime threats in the UK, Islamic extremism remains the most prominent threat in the country.

The British Conservative served just 49 days as Prime Minister of the UK in 2022 before leaving the market turmoil over his Administration’s Economic Agenda. Now that the dust has settled, Truss has launched a private club for “emerging leaders,” Leconfield, and a YouTube show, Truss said.
“This is a huge problem that needs to be addressed,” Truss said of UK terrorism and the recession. “One of the things my show will be talking about is how do we do that? How do we get Trump reform in Britain?”

Truss Pulls digs into issues such as mass immigration and social media shows on the weekly show, arguing that the UK is facing a growing “speech” problem that deserves global attention.
According to data obtained at the beginning of this year, the UK police will make more than 30 arrests per day in connection with 2023 – about a total of 12,000.
FOX News Digital reached out to Trump and Starmer for comment but did not immediately receive responses.
