“Early this morning, we lost a great friend, father, son, musician and person,” Kimmel, 57, wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, November 11.

The Talk Show noted that she and Escobedo III had been “separated” since she was 9 years old.

“The fact that we get to work together every day is a dream that none of us ever thought would come true,” Kimmel said. “Tell your friends and please keep Cleto’s wife, children and parents in your prayers.”

During Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!Kimmel broke through his emotional reign as he paid tribute to Escobedo.

Kimmel noted that he “had to do difficult monologues” over the past two decades but explained, “this is the hardest, because late yesterday, because late yesterday evening, we lost a very special person who was too young to go.”

Sharing that everyone on the show was “devastated” by the loss, Kimmel also paid tribute to Escobedo’s widow, Lori, and their two children.

“It’s just not fair,” she said. “He was funny, very humble, kind and always funny.”

Kimmel added, “Let your friends know. We’re not here forever.”

Paula Abdul63, were among the celebrities to pay tribute to Escobedo.

In his touching confession, Abdul shares memories of his time with Escobedo.

“I was putting together my team for my first world tour and the moment I heard him, I knew I had to hire him, even though he had no tour experience yet,” he wrote. “His talent and energy are undeniable, and he went on to have an amazing career, and he’s back with his best friend Jimmy Kimmel as Bandelleader on Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The singer concluded, “Cleto was pure light and soul, on stage and off. Sending so much love to his family and everyone he loves.”

Escobedo’s Band, Cleto and the Cledones, were part of Jimmy Kimmel Live! since the speech began in 2003.

Before working for Kimmel, Escobedo had his own troubled record. Formed Cleto and the Clotolones in 1995 with Guitarist Toshi YangagiBassist Jimmy Earl, Keyboard player Jeff Babko and the Drummer Jonathan Dreselel. His father, Cleto Escobedo Jr.He later joined the band after playing saxophone in a 1960s rock and soul band.
