Jesse Jackson was hospitalized after being diagnosed with supranuclear palsy

Rev. Jesse Jackson he was admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disease.

Jackson, 84, was admitted to a hospital in Chicago on Wednesday, November 12, and was referred “due to the symptoms of supranuclear palsy (PSP), said the organization Rainbow is a non-profit organization founded by a human rights activist.

“Revenend Jesse L. Jackson Sr. was hospitalized today and is currently being monitored for an ongoing supranuclear palsy (PSP),” the agency said in a statement.

According to the Mayo Clinic, progressive supranuclear palsy is “a rare brain disorder that affects walking, balance, eye movements and swallowing.” The condition results from damage to the brain cells that control body movement, coordination, thinking and other functions.

PSP “gets worse over time and can lead to serious complications, such as pneumonia and trouble swallowing,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

There is no cure for the disease. Treatment usually focuses on managing symptoms.

The protégé of Martin Luther King Jr.Jackson is a key figure in the US civil rights movement.

In 2017, Jackson announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, although his diagnosis has since been changed to PSP.

“In all my ministry activities, God has kept me in accepting his arms of love, and protected me and my family from dangers, I find it difficult to do the challenge of ordinary tasks, and I start to see that they are the challenge of the last three years.”

“After a battery of tests, my doctors revealed the problem as parkinson’s disease, the disease that caused my father,” he said.

“The recognition of the consequences of this disease has been painful for me, and I have come out to understand the bottom line of it,” he continued to understand. “For me, the diagnosis of Parkinson’s is not something to stop but it is a sign that I have to make a lifestyle change and dedicate myself to physical therapy in the hope of reducing the progression of the disease.”

In August 2021, both Jackson and his wife, Jacqueline81, was diagnosed with the country’s covion-19.

“Both are resting well and responding well to treatment,” the couple’s son, Jonathan Jackson, said in a statement at the time. “My family appreciates all the expressions of concern and prayers on their behalf, and we will continue to pray for your family.”
