Israel says the bodies of 1 in 4 people left in Gaza have been returned by the army – nationally

Israel said on Thursday that the army has surrendered the body of one of the last four hostages taken during the Oct 7, 2023, attack that launched the war in Gaza.

Israel identified the recovered body as that of Maydard, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Beeri in southern Israel. His wife, Alet, was killed during the attack.

The armed wings of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad said Modi’s body was found in Southern Gaza.

Since the end of the fire between Israel and Hamas that started on Oct. 10, 25 intestinal remains were returned to Israel. There are still three more in Gaza that need to be found and given.

GoaDard was a professional soccer player before enlisting in the Israeli army and serving in the 1973 Midwest War, according to Kibbutz Beeri. He worked in various positions at the Kibbutz, including its printing press.

Israel has been releasing 15 Palestinian bodies with the remains of each as part of the amnesty agreement. The Gaza Ministry of Health said the total number of infected people so far is 315.

Hamas said that the bodies to be returned are difficult to destroy widely in Gaza. Israel pressed to expedite the return and in some cases said the bodies were not those of the hostages.

Under the advice of the fire analysis, Hamas returned the Israelis to the Israelis on Oct. 13. More trading of the dead is a key part of the original deal that calls for Hamas’s immediate return. The exchange has progressed as Israel and Hamas have accused each other of violating other terms of the Agreement.

Israeli authorities have blamed Hama, who has taken possession of the remains in some parts at other times and has held them responsible for the discovery of bodies in others.

Hamas accuses Israel of opening fire on the disgrace and stopping the flow of humanitarian aid into the country. The number of casualties has decreased since the operation began, but officials in Gaza have continued to report deaths from the strikes, while Israel has also said soldiers have been killed in military attacks.

Health authorities in Gaza said identifying the bodies carried out by Israel was complicated by the lack of DNA testing kits.

With the departure of just three hostages, the sides are close to wrapping up the first phase of the ceasefire.

The following parts of the 20-point Plan call for building a strong international presence, forming a Palestinian government and dismantling Hamas.

The fragile agreement aims to end the fighting caused by Hamas-led attacks in southern Israel that have killed around 1,200 people and seen 251 hostages.

Israel responded by clearing an offensive that killed more than 69,100 Palestinians in Gaza, according to Gaza’s health ministry. The ministry, part of the Hamas-run government and overseen by medical experts, keeps detailed records viewed as being too often trusted by private experts.
