Barry Manilow announced that he was diagnosed with lung cancer.
“We just wrapped up five great Christmas concerts at the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert,” Manilow, 82, began in a statement shared via Instagram on Monday, December 22. “This marks the seventh time we’ve done these charity concerts and raised millions for nonprofits throughout the Coachella Valley. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and celebrated these amazing charities.”
The “Mandy” singer then shared the news of her diagnosis.
“As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse for another five weeks. Even though I was over bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my amazing doctor ordered an MRI to make sure everything was fine,” he wrote. “The MRI found a cancerous area in my left lung that needs to be removed. It’s very fortunate (and a great doctor) that it was found early. This is good news.”
Manilow added that she will undergo surgery to “remove the space” now that the Christmas dates for her A Gift of Love concert series are over.
“Doctors do not believe that it has spread, and I am taking tests to confirm whether they are infected. I love Lucy he repeats,” he continued.

(The singer was scheduled to perform in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Ohio next month.)
“I’m so sorry you have to change your plans,” he wrote. “Like you, we’ve all been looking forward to the January shows and we hate to have to move everything.”

Manilow noted that he is “counting the days” until he returns to the Westgate Las Vegas for his Valentine’s Day weekend concerts on February 12-14 and “throughout 2026.”
“Something tells me this weekend in February is going to be one big party!” he scoffed.
Manilow concluded, “I hope you had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year. And remember, if you have even the slightest symptoms … get checked! I’ll see you at the Westgate Las Vegas on Valentines!”
Manilow’s January shows have been rescheduled for February 27 through April 29. Those who had tickets to the January concerts will be able to use their tickets on the rescheduled dates.
Manilow, whose career spans more than 60 years and includes such hits as “Mandy,” “Copacabana” and “I Write the Songs,” previously battled throat cancer in 2020. The cancer was detected early and treated successfully.
In addition to his cancer battles, Manilow, who has a history of smoking and vaping, has dealt with bronchial pneumonia, an oral tumor, heart problems and hip surgery.
“I’m fine, I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’m too old, I shouldn’t be able to do this,” he told The Daily Mirror in 2019. “You saw me go up those stairs on stage – there’s 14 stairs up and 14 down, you’d think I’d have to be in a wheelchair or something.
