Idaho prosecutors are filing murder charges after the disappearance of a 5-year-old who is believed to have been abducted and killed in her own home.
“My office is moving forward with the charges against the individuals involved in the disappearance and murder of Michael Vuagy, which occurred in the summer of 2021,” Pitela County Prosecutor Michael Duke said in a statement late Friday morning.
He stopped short of explaining who or how many suspects were being charged, and the woman who answered his phone at the office said she could not share anything beyond Duke’s statement.

Wondra and his wife, Sarah Wondra, 38, were both arrested on minor charges in 2022 in connection with the investigation into Michael’s disappearance. His charges of failure to report resulted in death, and he was sent to state prison in Arizona for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Stacey Wondra, who was released on Thursday, asked a federal judge for a handwritten pretrial release on Oct. 7, saying she “showed good behavior at the time.” He is said to be expected to be brought back to Idaho.
Police have named WOMRAS and two other suspects who may return in 2022.
He is being held in an Idaho jail on an unrelated assault charge.

Sarah Wondra previously avoided scrutiny by posting social media posts about that time, some of which show her standing in front of missing person flyers about Michael’s case. Recently, the police released a bodycam video showing Stacey Wondra accusing his wife of the crime when the police searched their property, according to Kivi-TV.
Duke said prosecutors had hoped to find Michael’s remains before filing charges, and he was moving ahead with that in part to minimize the harm to the victim’s family.
