Right now, I’m doing the same thing South park. I’ve been binge-watching season 27 Under, and my main takeaway is that I missed it when the show focused on the odd domestic happenings in a small mountain town instead of Donald Trump and his orbit.
We are all free-willed (supposedly), and we don’t have to continue consuming the media we no longer have; We can go. No one was injured.
My relationship with The Simpsons is finally healthy again
One media item I left at the right time The simpsons. Born a year before the series, I grew up in the golden age and was spoiled by it. Sunday Nights The Simpsons the night. Reruns played on an endless background loop during homework days throughout the week. By the time I was 12, the show had changed, and so had my media preferences, so I went.
It wasn’t a surprising split. One week I could get in, the next I couldn’t. My enthusiasm was gone, and I accepted that once you leave home, you can’t always go back.
Even now, I compare many series of the Animated Era The Simpsons in my head. My 7 year old daughter is very familiar with the later seasons because that’s what’s new to her, and that’s what she’s getting into. It’s amazingly amazing about that.
His latest love The Treehouse of Horror EPISODES bring The Simpsons back into my home in a positive way. I can quote old classics verbatim when experiencing new things for the first time with my children, and seeing how they are with passages that I never gave a proper impression.
It’s still there The simpsons. I have accepted that the later seasons are not the same, but they can still be in my home, and there is no danger. I can be a guest. I can stop whenever I want and leave whenever I feel like it. Feeling healthy.
Many long-running processes have run their course
Check for any process that is running for a long time. NCIS, Kind of, Law & Orderand all the many spin-offs run their course. Most people are written off to go through these sources, but shows always find a way to keep fans engaged.
They tease the character’s exit, return, or death, to draw viewers week after week so the finale “says something.” Spooler’s note: The payoff is usually a scandal or a surprising twist meant to keep the conveyor belt moving.
Even the players know it’s time to go. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit It was never the same after Christopher Meloni left the lead controversy. He wanted to try new roles across different media channels, so he left when the juice wasn’t suitable.
When Meloni returned after some years Law & Order: Organized Crimelong-time viewers rejoiced, and sent watchers like me wandering out of curiosity. All of a sudden, I was bidding on old episodes, responding well. The media didn’t care that I was leaving. It was just there, patiently waiting for my usual return.
This is better than sticking to it for years, getting out of the habit, and not feeling anything meaningful about being disappointed.
Take a break, it’s broadcast season, baby!
Star Wars and Star Trek are great examples of franchises that many of us feel obligated to keep up with. Their Universals are dark, eclectic, and nostalgic. But what would happen if many fans left for a while? Are the creators reevaluating the direction? Is the focus changing on quality over content?
I’m thinking of moving away South parkmedia presence in my life since I was 10 years old. The show is drawing bigger numbers than ever, but it’s not serving me anymore.
Many viewers who have liked the same things seem to be feeling based on IMDB reviews of recent episodes. I’ll always hang on a little bit hopefully, but I know what’s coming. One day, I’ll just stop editing. Years from now, after some distance, I will go back and see what has changed. If I like what I see, I’ll take it where I go. In the meantime, maybe I’ll find something new to fill the void.
Moving away from obsolete media sounds like simple math. When certain exhibits stay in your home for years, however, they start to feel like residents you don’t want to deal with. Cutting tires is harder than you might think.
Do it anyway. Go away. Come back later if you feel like it. If it’s still good, you’ll go right back. If not, you’ll be glad you stopped.
