George Santos Credits regained faith after being released from prison

The former New York Rep. George Santos was officially released from prison following President Donald Trump’s decision to increase his sentence. Santos now talks about his gratitude to the President, his renewed faith and his plans for the future.

While we were serving his sentence, Santos said that he spent 41 days in solitary confinement, where he said he was denied the Rosary, but he said that he was still given it by communicating with God through prayer.

“I have a lot to prove to a lot of people, and I have to make sure that President Trump understands that I will not let him down,” said Santos, calling his release “a second chance” during “Fox & Friends Likely.”

Santos was serving a seven-year sentence for wire fraud and identity theft in New Jersey.

The notorious Falulist agreed to plead large parts of his life story and continued and was expelled from Congress in 2023 amid investigations into his criminal conduct.

Trump wrote on social media that he believed the sentence was too long. The President announced the move on Friday, ordering the immediate release of Santos from federal prison.

“George Santos was a person who was a ‘tough guy,’ but there are many rogues in our country who can be forced to serve seven years in prison,” Trump said in a social truth.

“George has been in solitary confinement for a long time and, by all accounts, has been severely abused. So, I immediately signed off, to release George Santos from prison, immediately.”

Santos said that just a day before his release, he saw a very emotional moment.

“From the minute I entered the prison, I found out that there is this visiting priest who comes, a Catholic priest, who comes every Thursday,” he said.

Santos said that after he first went to the fort, he was later put in solitary confinement.

“I was together with God, I was repeating myself, I started to pray in this very important way,” he said during his time in prison.

Santos said he saw the timing of his release as a sign from God, as it came only a day later.

He said the moment he was released from prison alone, he went to Mass, went to confession and took the Eucharist. The next day, he was informed of his release from prison.

“100% the other day,” he said. “Many witnesses who had the same weight as me.”

Despite his renewed faith, Santos said he intends to dedicate his second chance to criminal reform.

“When I spoke with President Trump yesterday, I told him my commitment would be in prison,” Santos said.
