The publisher of the Franklin series of children’s books says an online post by Defense Secretary Pete Hegs portrays the turlar character as a soldier with an anti-violence army.
Hegseth shared on Social Media Hunday a beautiful cover of Franklin’s book entitled “Franklin targeted by narco-terrorists” via Christ: “Your Christmas wish list.”
In it, a smiling Franklin can be seen dressed in military uniform – with an American flag on his arm – firing a weapon from a helicopter into one of three boats carrying three packages.
The post appears in reference to US military strikes against suspected drug-trafficking vessels in the Red Sea and Eastern Ocean.
Spokesman for children can press, who publishes a popular Canadian series, said Franklin stood graciously and condemned how he was portrayed.
Social media reactions ranged from users posting their mocking posts to others criticizing the hegs for using the Canadian character.
