The priority Dancing with the stars war Brooke Burke You will never go back to the ballroom for a special birthday show after he came out in 2014.
Burke, 54, explained why she won’t be attending the highly anticipated event during the Tuesday, Nov. 4, episode of Jennie Garth’s “I Choose Me” Podcast.
“A redo is hard for me,” Burke told fellow former contestant Garth, 53. “I guess there’s some things that are worth a repeat in your life, but I feel like I wrung it out and I did everything I needed to do on that show.”
Butke added that although “amazing relationships” were formed during his time Dwts As a contestant and as a Cohost, she had felt her time on the series behind her. “On one of the most watched shows on television. It would be hard to go back there with the same amount of joy and appreciation,” she said.
Greth, joked that he also “received an email” about the special – which is in the air on November 11 – that he “didn’t read.”
Burke and Garth were both paired with former Pro Derek hough – Now the judge in the show – During their years. Garth came in fourth place in Season 5 in 2007, the first season of Chicken, while Burke and Hough took home the Mirrorball two seasons later. Burke later hosted the show with Tom Bergeron in columns 10 through 17.
“I’ve never said no, I’ve never closed doors professionally, but I mean, it was season eight, and I did everything I needed to do in the dressing room,” it’s a lot of fun Dwts Even if it wasn’t “one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my entire life.”
This is not the first time Burke has spoken about his exit Dwts. She opened up about being removed from the show during the 2024 episode of Appointment with curtis stonerevealing that while he was ‘ready to do other things’ at the time, it was ‘disappointing’ to find out he wasn’t asked back.
“But I think it’s shocking when there’s a change in our business, to separate it, to be honest, to be vulnerable,” he added. “I think it was really disappointing. I didn’t expect it.”
As for why he was “let go,” Burke said it was because of both sides. “
Butke explained how he found out that he would not return for the 18th season in his blog today, shortly after the news broke up in 2014.
“The only scary thing about it, for me, was the way it all went down,” he wrote, saying, “In the weeks he said he got “just weeks” before the Primeee. “I would have thanked the heads and for the courtesy of communication, but we don’t always have the right to get that at work.”
She also shared how difficult it was to tell her children, who don’t understand the difference between being allowed to leave and being kicked out. (Burke shares children Neriya, 24, Sierra, 22, Izulu, 18, Shaya, 16, and Eles Garth Fisher and David Charet.)
“My son shouted, ‘You fired, mom?!” Shaya’s son remembered to ask him. “I tried to explain the difference between shooting and letting go. Then he shouted! ‘ I laughed at a good line in all of them. After that I did my best to explain to my children the reality of change and the need to guide it with kindness. “
Burke is not the only one Dwts Cohost will be asked to leave the ball in previous years. Audiences were shocked when original emcee Bergeron announced in July 2020 that he was cohost Erin Andrews it would not return for season 29.
“Just let @Danuncingabc know you’re going to continue without me,” Bergeron said via X at the time. “It’s been an amazing 15-year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I’m grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That being said, now what am I supposed to do with all these glorious fields?”
He later appeared in the October 2023 episode Cheryl Burke’s “Sex, lies and tons of sprinkles” podcacacacacacast to discuss her exit, saying her desire to keep politics out of living room politics was partly to blame. (Bergeron had previously been allowed Sean Spicer’s Pitching in season 28.)
“I’m sure they’ll give you a different reason [as for why I was fired]”He added, he noted that he will not” return as manager. “It’s not the same show. It’s not the same world. There’s no point. What can I prove? … Let the show exist with the new blood it has now or die a natural death.”
