A federal judge has refused to extradite a former Colorado clerk who was convicted of trying to rig voting systems in hopes of proving President Donald Trump’s call for unemployment in 2020.

The former clerk, 70-year-old Tina Peters, was sentenced to nine years in prison after a federal jury acquitted her of complicity in a conspiracy to hack Mesa County Voting systems. Peters filed a lawsuit seeking its release earlier this year, arguing that his free speech rights were violated, but Judge Scott Varholak refused to budge on Monday.

“Ms. Peters raises significant constitutional questions regarding whether the trial court grossly unfairly punished her for protected First Amendment speech,” Vavholak wrote. “But because this question remains pending before the Colorado courts, this court must refrain from answering that question until after the Colorado courts have decided this issue.”

Peters, the only Trump ally to face prison time for refusing to vote in the election, has received significant support from the President.

“Tina is a terribly innocent political prisoner and has been unjustly punished in a brutal and besieged state by forces that suspect the democrats will be formed in 2020. Social in May.

“Colorado must end this inhumane transplant of innocent Americans,” he added.

Trump and the Justice Department have little leverage in the case, because Peters was convicted of a high-level crime. His administration failed to successfully transfer him to state custody.
