Emilie Kiser Describes Bad Christmas After Son Trigg’s Death

Emilie Kiser shares how the tragic death of her son Trigg changed the holiday season forever.

“If you just sent me, like, sweet DMs yesterday — messages, well wishes — I’m so thankful for you and I’m so thankful for reaching out,” Kiser, 26, said in a “get ready with me” video shared on TikTok on Saturday, December 27.

He continued, “My family made sure to make us feel very special – make it special for Teddy. We were able to have quality time together and that’s all we wanted this year – to make memories quietly, but not feel like a normal Christmas. I didn’t want to force a normal Christmas because it’s not a normal Christmas. It was, frankly, really bad for us – I mean that Christmas.

The Chandler, Arizona Police Department confirmed that Us Weekly in May that Trigg died at age 3 after being dragged unconscious from the family’s backyard pool. In July, authorities charged Kiser’s husband with a felony, Brady Kiserwho was at home when the incident happened. (The pair also have a 9-month-old son, Teddy.) A statement released by the Maricopa County District Attorney’s Office later said “no conviction is likely.”

After pausing all social media activity following Trigg’s death, Emilie finally broke her silence on the tragedy in August.

“A loss of this magnitude feels impossible to describe,” Emilie wrote on Instagram at the time. “I spent days, weeks, months trying to find myself and take the time I needed to digest the loss of my child.”

She continued, “Trigg is our child and our best friend. The light and spirit he brought into this world was bright, pure, joyful and undeniable. We miss him every second of every day and moving forward often feels unbearable. I never thought we would experience grief like this or the pain of losing him so suddenly.”

Earlier this month, a source told Exclusively Us that Emilie and Brady “have been working thoughtfully on their relationship” in the “months” since their son’s unexpected death.

“They went through the worst tragedy you can face as parents and are doing everything they can to come together as a family,” said the insider. “This holiday season is so important to make their family feel normal. And they’re keeping things private as they work to be the best parents they can be to Teddy.”

On Saturday, Emilie again thanked her siblings for helping her family navigate the holiday season amid their deep grief.

“I’m very grateful to my siblings, because they all just picked up what they’re going to do this year, maybe, even if they’re going to go out to Arizona this year for Christmas,” he added. “They were all like, ‘We’re all going to do whatever you want to do and whatever makes you comfortable this year.'”

For this vacation, Emilie and her family went to California, where she said the trip was “high in the air, right out of the way everyone feels.” [and] what everyone wants to do in a day.”
