Denise Richards Details ‘Painful’ Year Amid Aaron Phypers Split

Denise Richards looking forward to a fresh start in 2026 after a difficult year.

He posted on his Instagram on Thursday, January 1, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 54, described 2025 as “one of the most painful years I’ve ever lived.”

“When I look back at all the photos and videos I have of 2025, it feels like I’m looking at two different people and living two different lives. From seeing many of your posts, many of you felt the same way. I will never forget this year, one of the most painful years I’ve lived,” Richards recalled.

He went on to say, “The year of letting go, the disclosure of the truth. Although it is so painful, I am very grateful for the clarity. I cried many tears and felt the pain and betrayal that I did not know.”

Richards is currently in the midst of a messy divorce from her estranged husband Aaron Phypers, 53.

As Us Weekly previously reported, the Phypers filed for divorce on July 7, 2025 after six years of marriage. Richards filed for a restraining order days later. He accused Phypers of abuse during their relationship, which he denied.

The court granted Richards a permanent restraining order against Phypers on November 7, 2025. Phypers was arraigned on October 17, 2025 after testifying as part of the restraining order. Prosecutors have charged Phypers with two counts of spousal assault and two counts of suppressing a witness by force or threat. Phypers faces up to years in prison if convicted.

Before her relationship with Phypers, Richards was married to an actress Charlie Sheen60, from 2002 to 2006. They share two daughters: Sam21 again Lola, 20. (Richards later adopted a daughter Eloise in 2011.)

In 2025, Richards experienced another physical disability when she ruptured her breast implants during an intense workout while competing in season 3 of S.Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

“I also jumped from the bridge—that’s when I broke down [breast] tumors — on that thing,” Richards explained on SiriusXM’s “Jeff Lewis Live” on January 3, 2025, while discussing the physical challenges he faced on the show.

Richards also shared his gratitude for his fans in his Instagram post and expressed his desire to look forward to the future.

“Going to comedy this year and Bravocon was so humbling. Meeting you all [fans] & hearing how much you have supported me throughout my career. Thank you all so much,” Richards wrote.

He added, “I’ve had so many blessed happy moments in 2025 and especially in the last few months, I’m finally starting to feel like myself again, much better. I’m looking forward to the year of the Horse. I feel very lucky that it starts on my birthday✨Happy New Year to you all & Happy new Nina to all of you who have been through 2025!”
