Dean McDermott Talks About Tori Spelling After Divorce (External)

McDermott, 58, spoke exclusively to US of the Week About his connection with his ex-wife while on the second stage of the second construction of the year in Los Angeles on Monday, November 10.

“We cry a lot,” the actor, who has been for more than two years, told We On the red carpet before the Fundraiser with other joint sponsors, lawyers and experts to raise money for serious cause programs.

“Our relationship is sweet,” McDermott said. “We are the United Front. It’s all about the children.”

McDermott shares five children with Spelling, 52, including This is Liam18, Stella17, Hatie14, You are wild13, no Beau8. The star also shares his eldest son, Jack27, and Ex Mary Jo Eustace.

McDermott and Spelling plan to continue their Christmas traditions as a family.

“Every year we get our pictures with Santa. I think we missed a year as a family, so we always do that.” He shared.

“At the end of the day, we’re family, of course, and whether we’re together or not, I love him for the rest of my life,” she continued. “And he will love me for the rest of his life.”

She added, “It just didn’t work out as a couple. But you know, we’re parents. We mess up well together, and we know, and, you know, that’s a big formula for moving forward and being strong with our family.”

McDermott and Spelling are even on the same page when it comes to dealing with his past issues with their children.

“They all know, and they are very supportive, and you know, by talking to them and being an open letter about my addiction, it helps my father to think and say,” He told us, and that is very important.

McDermott also revealed how getting help for his addiction helped him become a better father.

“I’m blessed to have six beautiful children. They’re healthy, they’re amazing, and I get to fix this relationship, and it’s fun,” she said.

McDermott spoke candidly about his struggles and how he has to rely on the universe when it comes to protecting his family.

“I love being in control as an addict, because it makes me feel safe, and I can’t. That’s the biggest thing I’ve learned in recovery, but you can be disciplined, but you know what’s going to happen.

“The best I can do now as a parent is just to listen,” McDermott added. “And if they want my advice, I’ll give it to you.”

The actor said it was “a big difference” from before.

“When I was in my addiction, all I did was say. ALL I did was control,” he shared. “What I did was the anger of the project. So today, I’m just here to be a father to love them and listen.”

Several other celebrities who are affected by addiction joined McDermott in the second Fundraiser event, held at the Beverly Hillraiser Hotel, raising more than $ 180,000 because the cause started with his son, Jason, in this disease in 2020.
