Hulu Just Added One of the Best – And Most Unrated – Movies of 2025

Chuck’s life came and hit theaters last summer with no audience to speak of, as it was only a limited release in the US.

But people have seen this Stephen King Adaptability is more likely to be talked about.

This isn’t a horror flick or straight-up coming-of-age drama — rather, a brief snapshot of the life of Charles “Chuck” Krantz (Tom Hiddleston).

It’s also one of the best movies I’ve seen in 2025, and one movie you should stream now that it’s on Hulu.

The cast is great across the board

Hiddleston may have the top bill, but he has an alarmingly small part in the film and doesn’t make an immediate impression. The first part of the film is about Marty Anderson (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and his ex-wife, Felicia (Karen Gillan), as the world – and perhaps the universe itself – comes to an untimely end. Ejiofor and Gillan are both excellent as two people who grab for any reason to move on while finding a way to get back together.

The room‘s Jacob Tremblay he plays a young Chuck late in the movie, but one of the standout performances is a young one Benjamin Pajak like ten-year-old Chuck. This kid was going to be a star, and he brought a lot of life when it was his turn to play an actor. Mark Hamill and gives one of his best turns as Chuck’s grandfather, Albie Krantz. He is a victim who has seen a lot, yet his love for his grandson shines through even when he is angry.

Of course, Hiddleston is great as always when he finally gets something to do in a movie. The story takes place in reverse chronological order, so we don’t see Chuck in his adulthood until the second act. It takes a special moment for Chuck to regain something that was important to him, and he embraces it with all he has. It’s brilliant.

‘The Life of Chuck’ is the Most Uplifting Movie of 2025

As you can see from the clip above, Chuck’s love was dancing, and he’s good at it. Most of the second act revolves around the dance Chuck shares with a complete stranger, Janice Halliday (Annalize Basso). And a drummer named Taylor Franck (Taylor Gordon), this unlikely trio finds something magical together that is fleeting, but amazing to watch.

The first act goes back to Chuck’s childhood and shows why dancing meant so much to him and how it led to one of the greatest moments of his life. It’s not really about the dance, it’s about how it makes him feel, and how it makes other people feel. Most people would argue that these are not important things in life. But if they bring happiness, nothing is more important than that, and the best times Chuck’s life remind the viewer why life is worth living. In times of doom and gloom, that is a powerful message.

Stephen King’s story After all

If the only presence in the first act wasn’t a big enough clue, this is a Stephen King story, and there’s a certain supernatural beat that’s never fully explained. We won’t spoil the ending, but it’s not meant to be a shocking game-changer like those similar films. The Sixth Sense they have drawn the audience.

In the words of their characters, the King and the writer/director Mike Flanagan tell the audience exactly what awaits Chuck if he doesn’t follow his grandfather’s warning. It’s not meant to surprise, and that’s the reason why the story takes place in sequence. What could be a low end is transformed into something bright. And not enough movies can get that kind of response.

Chuck’s life is streaming on Hulu.
