Cyclist goes down Racine in France, survives on wine in his bag – National

A French cyclist survived three days after falling off a cliff by drinking bottles of red wine from a shopping bag, authorities in France said.

According to CBS News, the 77-year-old man, who could not be called a bicycle, left a shop near a quiet road in the Cévennes mountain region near Saint-julien-des-points in southern France.

The man, who could not kill his way out of the village, cried for three days trying to catch the attention of passers-by, but failed to alert anyone on the ground.

As the days went by, he hid himself in the wine bottles he slept with when he fell, rescuers said, and their whereabouts were determined by emergency workers from the streets of the victims, according to French news.

Firefighters from the fire of the Hérault and Rescuest Service, with the help of the Civil Security Helicopter, transported a man to the hospital in Alès, said.

“He is a miracle,” Dr. Laurent Savath, chief medical officer of the Hérault Fire Department, said.

“In the cold and in the water, almost no food or water, it is incredibly strong.”

The man escaped unharmed with minor injuries and a mild case of hypothermia, said CBB media.

It is not the first time that the story of survival has seen someone see in wine.

In 2023, a woman survived five days in the dark bushland eating candy and drinking wine after her car got stuck in dead mud, ABC11, the North Carolina affiliate of the ABC news network, reported.

During the short spring day trip, the woman, whom the police referred to only as Lilian, did not bring water or food with her. However, he had a bottle of wine that he had bought as a gift for his mother and a small amount of candy, which was enough to sustain him until the police plane spotted him.

“Lillian was found a good 60km away from the nearest town and due to health issues she was unable to try to help,” Woodonga Police Station Sgt. Martin Torpey said in a statement following the incident.

“He used a lot of common sense to stay with his car and get lost in Bushland, which helped the police find him,” he added.
