Cody detwilerknown as Whistlindiesel on YouTube, has been arrested on tax charges, US of the Week can confirm.
Detwiler, 27, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 12, in Tennessee on two counts of tax arson, according to online records viewed by We Friday, November 14. The YouTuber was released on bond from Williamson County Court earlier that day.
Detwiler’s preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 19.
According to the case received by TMZDetwiller’s lawsuits relate to sales tax owed on a 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo purchased in January 2023.
Detwiler addressed his arrest on Instagram on Thursday, November 13, sharing a mugshot of himself, along with photos and video footage of his police officer.
“Won is so big they thought I was cheating.
Detwiler also pursues any wrongdoer by commenting, “I didn’t do anything.”
Many fans expressed their support for the defewiler in the comments section, with one writing, “love you bro!”
Another user added, “WD free,” while a third person commented, “don’t worry bro I got your bond.”
The Ferrari F8 appears in a video found by detwiler posted on YouTube in August 2023. The video showed a red sports car that caught fire after the Indiana native drove it through a corn field. The van that was driven alongside the Ferrari caught fire, too. Detwiler and his crew could be heard calling the Fire Department as cars went up in flames.
“It’s going for half a million dollars. I think you shouldn’t drive in the Cornfields,” said Drywiler at the same time. “It’s a tough loss, but I can’t say it wouldn’t have happened anyway. … We’ll get over it one day.”
In the description of the video, he wrote, “I regret to inform everyone that the MAY $ 400,000 Ferrari F8 and RETAME RETAME TO MAKE A SHOP OF THE BEST SHOP AT THE TIME OF THE BEST.
Detwiler also shared photos of the burning car on Instagram at the time.
“Yeah listen Uuhhhhh … We F * up. (That’s my brand new Ferrari and rent a minivan with all our stuff inside) YouTube video of the whole situation live,” he wrote about the video.
Another Instagram post from earlier that month showed the defiler sitting on top of a Ferrari while fishing in a lake.
“Using my Ferrari how it was intended to be used (scale 1/100) Coming soon,” he wrote.
Detwiler has been making YouTube videos since he was 16 years old. His content often revolves around luxury cars and other vehicles, including the tesla model 3, Mercedes G-Wagon, lambodhes Hellcat, flat tractor and more. His YouTube channel currently has over 10 million subscribers.
